GENERAL INFO
FORMAT:
Saturday - A.M. (8:00 or 11:00) & P.M. (2:00 or 5:00) Waves in 3 team pools. Matches are best 2 of 3 games, start @ 4 (if A.M. runs long, P.M. may start @ 6).
Sunday - A.M. (8:00 or 10:00) condensed seeding Waves in 3 team pools. All Matches are 2 games, start @ 4 (NO playoff tie-break matches, see format info).
Sunday - P.M. (1:00 to 6:00) Gold, Silver, Bronze (& Flights) Single Elimination Playoffs. Quarters & Semis are best of 3 to 21 starting @ 4 (3rd game to 15). Finals are regular best of 3 to 25 (Deciding game to 15).
Rounds:
Saturday Round 1 (single letter pools) and Round 2 (double letter pools): All pool matches will use a 2 out of 3 match format. The first two sets will be played to 25 points starting at 4 – 4. A third set will be played only if necessary. If necessary, it will be a 15 point deciding set starting at 0 – 0 with a side change at 8 points. At any time after the second match of the day, the Site Director and/or the Site Chief Referee may have play begin at 6 – 6 in the first two sets if they feel it is necessary in the interest of time.
Sunday Round 3 (triple letter pools): All pool matches will use a two set match format. Each set will be played to 25 points starting at 6 – 6. There will be no third sets played.
If there is a Challenge Match in the first round only, scheduled for 2:00 PM. Teams will play ONE set to 25 points starting at 0 – 0 with a side change at 13 points. If time becomes an issue, the Site Chief Referee and Site Director may make the determination to start at 4 – 4, 6 – 6, or 8 – 8 with a side change at 15 points, 16 points, or 17 points respectively.
Playoffs: All playoff matches use a 2 out of 3 match format. The first two sets will be played to 25 points starting at 0 – 0. A third set will be played only if necessary. It will be a 15 point deciding set starting at 0 – 0 with a side change at 8 points.
- If 20 – 30 minutes behind schedule, the Site Director and / or the Site Chief Referee may determine to have the first two sets start at 4 – 4. Any third sets will start at 0 – 0.
- If 30 or more minutes behind schedule, the Site Director and / or the Site Chief Referee may determine to have the first two sets start at 6 – 6. Any third sets will start at 0 – 0.
TOURNAMENT TIE BREAKING PROCEDURES
1) Total Sets, if still tied;
2) Total Point Differential, if still tied;
3) Wave 1 & Wave 2 (Saturday)
- If early – one set to 25, start at 4, switch at 15;
- if 1-10 mins behind – one set to 25 start at 6, switch at 16;
- if 10-20 mins behind – one set to 15, switch at 8;
- if 20+ mins behind – coin flip.
Wave 3 (Sunday AM) – NO PLAYOFF, UNLESS WINNER CAN GO TO GOLD ANDSTILL TIED AFTER NUMBER 2 ABOVE. IF NECESSARY, GAME WILL BE ONE SET TO 15 START AT 4, SWITCH AT 10. Seeding will be based on original seed 2nd vs 3rd (highest seed works), then winner vs highest seed (loser works).
Sunday Playoffs
- On time Championship matches will be played best of 3 starting at 0, if behind then start at 4/4/0.
- All other Sunday playoff matches, will be played best of 3 (25/25/15) start at 4/4/0; switch at 8 during 3rd set.
- If 20-30 minutes behind start at 6 (0 for 3rd set).
- If 30+ minutes behind start at 8 (0 for 3rd set).
Admissions: There will be a $10 admissions fee for this tournament.
Site Considerations:
Food & apparel concessions may not be available at all sites. Coolers will NOT be allowed in any of the facilities. Absolutely NO food or beverages in the court areas! They plan to have the doors open at 7:00 am at each facility. ONLY CHAIRS WITH NON-MARKING RUBBER SOLES ARE ALLOWED IN THE FACILITY AND ONLY WATER IS ALLOWED IN THE GYMS

Questions and Answers
Q: Where is the Rumble held?
A: Due to the enormity of the tournament, the Rumble is held at various schools and recreation centers throughout the greater Williamsburg area.
Q: Will there be food concessions?
A: Food concessions will be available at some, but not all, sites.
Q: Where can Rumble merchandise be purchased?
A: Apparel concessions will be available at some, but not all, sites.
Q: Can we bring coolers into the gyms?
A: No. Coolers are not allowed in any of the facilities. Food and beverages (except water bottles for players) are not allowed in the gyms/court areas.
Q: Is there an admission cost for spectators?
A: No.
Q: Are there trainers on site?
A: No. We have listed a few of the local medical facilities for your information.
