About NCRC Basketball

NCRC Basketball is part of the North Carroll Rec Council servicing Hampstead, Manchester, and the surrounding areas. Our goal is to provide opportunities for youth to experience basketball through clinic, in-house, travel, high school, or corollary programs. Youth kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome to register with our program. Registration opens annually in August.

Clinic

K - 2nd grade

Our clinic program is broken into boys and girls. On the boys' side, the clinics are divided by grade (K, 1st, & 2nd). On the girls' side, the breakdown depends on registration numbers. The intent of clinic is to introduce the skills of basketball gradually building up to a very basic understanding of game play.

Advanced 2nd graders may be evaluated to participate in our 3rd/4th in-house leagues.

Clinic is held on Saturdays for 1 hour from early December to early March.

In-House

 3rd - 8th Grade

Our in-house program is broken into boys and girls with the following divisions by grade: 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th.

The intent of our in-house program is to provide an opportunity for youth of all skill levels to learn and play basketball. Players are evaluated before being drafted to a team. Every registered youth is placed on a team.

As youth progress through our in-house program, they should continue to build on and hone the skills they have learned. Players new to basketball are welcome at all age levels.

In-house teams practice once a week (Mon-Fri) early November - late February.

3rd/4th Grade practices are 60 minutes long.

5th/6th & 7th/8th Grade practices are 90 minutes long.

In-house games are played on Saturdays early December - early March.

Playoff games start late February and can be held any day of the week.

Championship Saturday is generally the first Saturday of March.

Practices and games are held in our area schools.

Travel

4th - 8th Grade

Our program offers travel teams for boys and girls at the following levels:

4th Grade, 5th Grade, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, & 8th Grade

In order to participate in our travel program, players must try out. Tryouts are generally held in early October and posted on the travel page.

If cuts are made, those players can transfer to our in-house program.

Travel teams practice two times a week (Mon-Fri) for 1.5 hours each.

Games are conveniently played in our local area at one of the three Coppermine facilities: 4Seasons, Pantherplex, or Sportsman's Hall.

High School

9th - 12th Grade

Our program has expanded to include a boys' in-house league for athletes grades 9 - 12. This league plays on Sundays at Coppermine Pantherplex January - March.

For girls' high school basketball, NCRC supports a team in the Westerminster League which also plays on Sundays at Westminster area schools.

Practices are currently offered for both programs once a week based on the coaches availability.

Teams are not determined until early December to allow for athletes to register after tryouts for the scholastic high school team.

Corollary

All ages

Our corollary program was new in 2019. Corollary basketball provides an opportunity for special needs athletes to learn and enjoy basketball.

We are looking for a corollary coach.
