PURPOSE:  At the GAC Head Coaches meeting in the fall of 2011, the golf coaches voted in favor of developing a points system that would count both regular season matches (against conference opponents only) and the GAC Tournament in order to determine the top 10 players of each conference (All GAC North, Central, and South Teams).

REGULAR SEASON SYSTEM: Points will be awarded to the top 5 players (and ties) in each dual match against a conference opponent (North v. North and South v. South only).  When players tie, each player will get the point value for that place, but the next place will be skipped.  If 5 players tied for 1^st then each player would get 10, but no other player would earn points.  Below is the point breakdown with examples.

1st place – 10 pts
2nd place – 8 pts
3rd place – 6 pts
4th place – 4 pts
5th place – 2 pts

GAC TOURNAMENT POINTS:  The top 10 players for North, Central and South will earn points to add to their regular season total.  Players that tie will be each be given the points for that place, but the next place(s) will be skipped.  If 3 players tie for 6^th each will receive 15pts, but the next points handed out will be for 9^th place.  Breakdown is as follows:

Tiebreakers:  If two or more golfers tie for individual SEASON points:

                        1st Tiebreaker: Golfer who finished better at the GAC Tournament

                        2nd Tiebreaker: Scorecard playoff starting with #1 handicap hole

Awards:  The following individuals should be recognized at the GAC Tournament.

GAC NORTH TOURNAMENT CHAMPION – Player with lowest score that day.

GAC NORTH GOLFER OF THE YEAR – Player with most match and tournament points combined.

GAC NORTH ALL CONFERENCE TEAM – 10 players w/ most match/tournament pts combined.

1st Team = Top 5 in Season Points

2nd Team = 6th-10th in Season Points.

GAC SOUTH TOURNAMENT CHAMPION – Player with lowest score that day.
