TEEN DRUG ABUSE INFORMATION Submitted by Chuck Moore, Director of Security
The attached flyer was sent as a public service from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, the Carroll County Health Department, and Carroll County Public Schools. Thanks to Deb Macy for providing this information.
This email is meant more as an educational piece for those parents that have children that are middle school through college ages.
Drug dealers and often manufacturers that wish to target youths often package their products in ways to attract these aged groups. Some of the drugs being marketed for youths and abused by teens & college students are often legal possess but still may be dangerous.
The attached brochure shows some of the packaging and the street names of these drugs. Below I have also described what some of the street named drugs are referring to:
Scooby Snax - Synthetic Marijuana
Flintstones - BZP: A knock-off of the drug ecstasy. The pills are shaped like cartoon characters. May be confused with Flintstone Vitamins.
Molly - Ecstacy (also known as "E")
K-2 Spice - Synthetic Marijuana
Mad Hatter - Herbal Incense (smoked)
Kush - Herbal Incense (smoked)
Krok - Synthetic Marijuana (Also called Kronik)
6-ABD - Synthetic drug similar to MDMA or Ecstacy
Greenies - Stimulants or amphetamines
Double Cupping - mixing codeine with another drink (often grape kool-aid) also known as "Purple Dragon"
Triple C - Corcidin Cold & Cough medicine - contains DXM (Dextromethorphan)
Vodka Eyeballing - Pouring vodka straight into the eye socket to achieve a quicker effect
Additional information regarding teen drug abuse, designer and synthetic drugs, as well as treatment can be found at www.teen.drugabuse.gov
Scholarship Programs For Minority Students
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS FOR MINORITY STUDENTS
If you have a college aged child at home or know someone who does, pass this scholarship information on to anyone and everyone that comes to mind. Though there are a number of companies and organizations that have donated monies for scholarships for minorities, a great deal of the money is being returned because of a lack of interest. How about you? What are your education goals?
There is no need for money to be returned to donating companies because we fail to apply for it. Please pass this information on to family members, nieces, nephews, friends with children, fellow alumni, churches, and community organizations. We must get the word out that money is available.
If you are a an adult learner, a college student or getting ready to become one or, know anyone who may have an interest in school these links can be valuable resources. Our holiday gatherings can provide a great opportunity for getting together, reviewing the requirements and helping each other submit applications…what a wonderful gift!!
Thanks for passing this along! (If clicking on the link doesn't work, copy and paste the URL in your web browser.)
