Ground Rules for the Wayne Regionals.

GROUND RULES – Wayne Junior Legion Regional

Radnor High School Varsity Field -- 130  King of Prussia Rd., Radnor, PA 19087

Ground Rules

1.       The field is entirely fenced in.

2.       Home team sits on the third base side.

3.       The gate on the third base side dugout must be kept shut by the team using the third base dugout.

4.       The on deck position on the third base dugout is behind the inside fence.

5.       Behind third base, the out of play line goes at a 90 degree angle from the end of the front fence to the back fence.

6.       In left field foul territory there are soccer goals. A ball entering the soccer goals is a ground rule double.

7.       The bullpens on both sides are in foul territory, but in-play.

8.       On the first base side, just to the east end of the dugout, there is one pole on the fence that is painted white. There is a line from the white pole to the corner of the first base side dugout that forms a triangle; this area is out of play.

9.       On the first base side, the on deck position is in the out of play triangle to the east side of the dugout.

10.   On the first base side, there is a line from the corner of the backstop fence behind the hitting area to the corner of the dugout that denotes the out of play area.

Pre-Game

Radnor High School offers facilities for teams to warm up. Coaches will share these facilities equally.

1.       There is a batting cage on the third base side of Varsity Field (to the right of RHS on the picture below). The batting cage should not be used while a game is in progress on the field.

2.       There are two batting cages on the softball fields (#4 on picture below) adjacent to Creek Field. 

3.       Teams may also use Rowland Field (JV Field - #3 on picture below) which is on the opposite side of the high school on top of the hill.

4.       Creek Field (to the right of field #4 on picture below) is on the Lancaster Avenue side of Varsity Fieldand is a full size diamond that is available for pregame warm-ups. 

5.       The team that arrives first for warm-ups should take Creek Field while the other team takes the batting cages on the softball fields or Rowland Field. The coaches should work out the appropriate time to switch places to equally share the warm-up facilities.

 

Facilities

1.       Fans will be charged by car load for entry.  The cost of a parking ticket good for the entire tournament is $10 per car regardless of the number of players and fans in the car.   Umpires, press, and staff will not be charged. Parking is to the south of Varsity Field between Varsity Field and Creek Field.

2.       Parking is also available adjacent to the Rowland Field.

3.       There are temporary bathrooms between Creek Field and Varsity Field.  In addition, entrance to inside bathrooms at Radnor High School will be available.  Entrance is via the gymnasium area across from Rowland Field.

4.       Bathroom facilities for disabled are available inside the Radnor High School entrance across from Rowland Field.

5.       Water will be provided on all benches, but we urge you to bring your own as well.

6.       For teams that wish to stay overnight, the Radnor Hotel is located less than 100 yards from Radnor High School.

8.       Restaurants are available on Lancaster Avenue (Route 30) by going west from the high school to downtown Wayne or east from the high school to Villanova. Player favorites nearby include Campus Corner in Villanova. Wayne offers Jimmy John's, Hub Bub, Chipotle, Anthony’s (owned by Dan Marino), Joe’s Place, Main Line Pizza. There is a Giant grocery store on Lancaster Avenue just across from the Radnor Hotel.

Harriton High School --  600 N Ithan Ave, Rosemont, PA 19010

Ground Rules

  1. Dugout openings are pole to pole. Any ball that enters the dugout is out of play.
  2. Any ball hitting the dugout and bouncing back into play is considered in play.
  3. There is a portable batting cage in the right field area.  If a ball enters the batting cage, or hits the poles to the batting cage, it is considered out of play.
  4. A foul ball that hits the netting on the right field side of the field is considered out of play.
  5. Any ball that passes the outfield fence in foul territory in right field or left field is considered a ground rule double.
  6. On the third base side, the fence extending out to the outfield fence will have a line painted there that will indicate out of play.

Pre-Game

Harriton High School offers facilities for teams to warm up prior to their game.  Teams should share these facililties equally.

  1. There is a batting cage on the third base side of the diamond.
  2. There is one bullpen and it is on the third base side of the diamond.  Both teams will need to use this bullpen.
  3. There is an additional baseball field (JV field) behind Harriton High School.

Radnor High School Rowland JV Field

1.        The home team normally sits on the first base side.

2.       On both dugouts, the out of play line is pole to pole.

3.       There are bullpens on the right field side of the field that is in foul territory, but in play. Both teams are able to use this bullpen area.

4.       A ball entering or hitting the soccer or lacrosse goals in foul territory should be considered a ground rule double.

5.       In deep left field there is a softball backstop in foul territory. This should be treated as a wall and a ball hitting off of it should be played. In the unlikely event that a ball should go behind the softball backstop, it should be retrieved and played.

6.       A ball rolling under the soccer bench in deep outfield should be retrieved and considered all you can get.

7.       On the first base side, there is a white line painted on a pole on the outside fence beyond first base. The out of play line extends from the white line to the corner pole of the inside fence just in front of the fans seating area.

3.       Loop A Field (Varsity softball) can be used for pregame fielding only.

4.       Creek Field to the Lancaster Avenue side of Varsity Field is a full size diamond and is available for pregame warm-ups. 

5.       The team that arrives first for warm-ups should take Creek Field while the other team takes the batting cages on the softball fields. The coaches should work out the appropriate time to switch places to equally share the warm-up facilities.

6.       Rowland Field will be available for pregame warm-ups since only one game per day will be played there. Teams should share the use of Rowland Field.

7.       If teams wish to use another field that is not on the campus for warm-ups, we will make Odorisio Park available. Odorisio Park, located on West Wayne Avenue, is about 3 miles from Radnor High School. It is a full diamond, but does not have a batting cage. Directions can be found on www.waynewolverines.com .

Wayne Hosts 2011 Regionals

For the first time ever, Wayne Junior Legion will be a Regionals host for the 2011 season.  Wayne will host Regionals along with Spring City, Boyertown, and Scranton.
