Junior Dolphin Information

To be eligible for our team, swimmers must be 5 years of age or older by July 24 of the current season and meet the following criteria:

  • Can swim one lap (25 meters) without assistance. Stroke does not matter, but must be able to make it across the entire length without help
  • Be comfortable with putting face in the water
  • Be comfortable with going under the water to dive for and gather toys (shallow end of pool)

If your swimmer is eligible for the team, but not quite ready to compete yet, then it will be recommended that your swimmer be a part of our Junior group. The Junior group is designated for the swimmer that has not yet mastered the basic competitive strokes. Swimmer will learn basic competitive strokes so that they can advance to the competitive team.

When a swimmer in the Junior group is ready to transition to the competitive team, the Junior group swim coach will communicate that to the family that the swimmer will advance to the White practice group. The White practice group competes in meets and can swim 25 meters (1 length) freestyle and backstroke.

All swimmers should come prepared to practice: Practice suit & goggles, swim caps are optional (caps do become required if your swimmer is moved up to the competitive team). Stay hydrated & safe - bring a water bottle everyday and put on sunblock before practice begins. The team provides kick boards & fins when needed. If you have your own please make sure to put your name on them.
