About the Hilander Hoop Club and it's By-laws The Hilander Hoop Club is a basketball tournament team feeder program for the Kelso Hilanders Varsity Basketball Programs at Kelso High School located in Kelso, WA. HHC believes in developing each grade level together with their classmates and players will not be allowed to play up a grade level in our program unless there are rosters of 9 or less. This program is designed for Girl's Grades 4th - 8th and Boy's Grades 4th - 8th who attend Kelso schools , home schooled, or private schooled living with-in district boundaries and want to play competitive basketball during the Winter season. Players involved will travel to various tournaments locally and sometimes Oregon.
HHC holds two try-outs in late October and dates/times are emailed out to every student in the district via Peachjar. Players who want to be concidered for selection but can't attend tryouts must reachout to the director ahead of time to set up an alternate evaluation. Roster size is up to the head coach but generally does not exceed 10 players. Players 4th - 5th Grade Girl's and 4th-5th Grade Boy's who are selected may choose to play in the Upper Kelso Hoops League in November - December and 6-8 local tournemnts in Jan & February. Selection process is based on observations at tryouts, past seasons in KYB or HHC, and community feedback from teachers & coaches. If a player is not selected, they will be placed on a Kelso Hoops Upper League team to further their development and be encourage to attend free skills trainings in the Spring at KHS. 7th & 8th grade players not selected will be encourage to try-out for their Huntinton or Coweeman middle school basketball programs.
*Please note that Boy's and Girl's 6th-8th Grade HHC try-outs are in late October and will begin tourney play before Christmas HHC will host 4 tourneys in Kelso each season to help off-set the cost of the club. Each team will schedule their own tournaments and each coach will provide that information to parents once those dates are set.
This is competitive tournament basketball and equal playing time is not guaranteed. The expectation of our players is that they will commit to attending and being on time to practices and tournaments. To be successful, we need this commitment from players and parents. Parents can help by informing us of any sponsors in our community who may want to contribute to the program. We will continue to stretch our budget by requiring that players return their uniforms to their coaches at the end of the season so that we may use them next year. Players who lose or damage uniforms will be fined $50. Spring HHC training details 2x a week will be emailed out to all current Winter HHC participants. Cost Girl's HHC $250 - Register on-line once selected at 1st practice cash or check to Kelso Girl's Basketball Boy's HHC $250 - Register on-line and pay coach at 1st practice cash or check to Boy's Hilander Hoop Club
