EBYA Manager/Coach/Volunteer Application Process
East Bay Youth Athletics (EBYA) always has a need to grow our coaching staff. We encourage all interested adults to participate as a Manager or Coach. We believe you will find, as many of us have, that it is very rewarding yet challenging experience.
There are several steps every Manager and Coach must comply with in order to be properly registered to Manage or Coach a team at EBYA.
Manager Qualifications:
- Submit an EBYA volunteer application for each new season. Click here to submit an application online. Hard copies of this application will not be processed or accepted. This will trigger a background check which is required for all volunteers at EBYA.
- Have completed a coaching course within the past year. As per our current EBYA Local Rules 2015, EBYA will only accept NAYS for this requirement.
- Have completed a concussion course. This can be obtained while completing the NAYS online coaching course. (recommended) Click here for nays website
- Have completed a CPR course within the last (2) years
- Attend coaching clinics presented by the league.

Manager and Coach Selection:
- All Managers and Coaches will be interviewed by an EBYA representative. These interviews can be performed on site or via telephone.
- Selection is not based solely on baseball or softball skills. Managers and coaches are required to handle all facets of operating a team, not just field activities. They are also expected to assist in the maturation of our young players by emphasizing good sportsmanship and becoming good teammates. Managers and Coaches are expected to lead by example in treating players, other coaches and umpires with respect. Managers and Coaches are expected to be knowledgeable in Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth, EBAY Local Rules and safety plan.
- All Managers and Coaches are expected to take an active interest in the growth of EBYA and improvement of its facilities. Managers and Coaches are expected to be members of EBYA and take an interest in league functions. These may include: Field work days, serving on a committee, acquiring sponsors, and promoting fundraising.
Volunteers:
All team personnel (team moms, dugout parents, field parents) that have repetitive access to the children must also register with EBYA. This involves the following:
- Submitting a Volunteer Application (via the website)
MANAGERS/COACHES/VOLUNTEERS:
A picture ID will be issued upon completing the requirements for which you have requested. This ID must be be worn at all times while at EBYA or any other park while engaging in activities involving EBYA.
