- The Baseball Program is for boys & girls ages 4-15.
- A players "playing age" is determined by the age they are on January 1st of the current year.
- For example, a player that turns 5 on or after January 2nd of the current year would play as a 4-year-old. (Because they were 4 on Januray 1st.)
- Registration for the spring seasons starts online on our website on January 1st (or earlier) for the current year.
- In person registration is held at the ballpark on scheduled dates each year. Dates will be announced on our website & Facebook page at the end of December/first of January as well as on flyers sent out at all the local schools.
- For 2025, they are Saturday January 25 from 9am til Noon, Tuesday January 28 & Thursday January 30 from 6pm til 8pm, & Saturday February 1 from 9am til Noon
- Baseball Registration fee is $60 for one player, $70 for two players & $90 for three or more players.
- Players must be siblings &/or live in the same household AND share the same parent/guardian to receive the multiplayer discount!
- Players must live within 20 miles of the ballpark (as the crow flies) in order to play ball at Salem. A utility bill or tax assessment may be requested.
- Birth Certificates are required for all players in 6U thru 15U.
- Sign ups will close for Baseball once the divisions become full after the last in person sign up day, or 1-2 days before the draft.
AGE DIVISIONS
-
A players age division is determined by their age on January 1st of the current year. (If they are 9 on January 1st & turn 10 on January 2nd, their playing age for the current year will be 9.)
-
Players must play ball in their age division. (See "Teams" for exceptions/more information.)
-
Instructional Division- Instructional is for players ages 4 & 5. It is coach pitch combined with tball. *
-
Each team will have 6-7 players. (The smaller team size allows for more one on one attention with players during practices and allows for less distractions. Plus it keeps the players more attentive during games since they aren't waiting long for their turn to bat and are in or close to the infield while in the field.)
-
50 minute games. (Innings will be finished.)
-
5 run limit per team per inning. 3 outs per team per inning.
-
All players play during the game. There are no subs.
-
ALL INSTRUCTIONAL GAMES ARE PLAYED AT SALEM. Instructional teams do not travel to other parks for their away games.
-
Instructional teams do not play in League tournaments (Pre-Season, Mid-Season, District or State.)
-
The park tries to have a tournament for the Instructional teams towards the end of the season. It is usually the weekend before the last week of season. All players who participate receive a medal after their final game of the tournament.
-
-
Score is kept.
-
Instructional teams play two games a week.
-
Players do not go through the draft or have player evaluations.

PLAYERS
- Players must play ball in their age division which is determined by their age on January 1st of the current year.
- Players can play up in an older age division:
- To play on the same team with an older sibling, or
- If they played at Salem the previous spring & their team moves up to the next age division (while the player is still eligible to play in the current/younger age division.)*, or
- If they attend evaluations & are drafted by a coach from an older age division
- Players can play up in an older age division:
- Players will only be allowed to play up one division (in most cases) AND only if the board feels it is safe for them to do so. (It must be approved by the baseball commissioner.)
- Players will not be allowed to play down in a younger age division that they have "aged out" of according to their age on January 1st of that year. (For example, if a player is 7 on January 1st, they cannot play down in 6U.)
- This is an AABA rule and we are not allowed to make any exceptions to it!
*Players whose team moves up to the next age division who are still eligible to play in a younger age division can elect to stay down & play in that division if they don't want to move up yet.
- Players that played at Salem the previous spring will return to their same team provided:
- Their team is returning during the current spring
- The player wants to return to the same team the current spring
- If the team a player played on te previous spring does not return the current spring, or the player does not want to return to their team, the player will go back in the draft and be drafted to a new team if there are two or more teams in their age division.
- New players, or players who did not play at Salem the previous spring, must attend player evaluations and be drafted to a team if there are two or more teams in their age division. (Unless circumstances exist that don't require them to do so.)
- All 6U players must go thru the draft if there is more than one team in the age division regardless of if they played at Salem the previous spring.
- Player Evaluations will be held prior to the draft for all players being drafted.
- Parents will be contacted by email if their child needs to attend player evaluations. We will also post info on our Facebook page prior to evals. They are usually scheduled for the 2nd Saturday in February & then moved to the 3rd Saturday because of the weather.
- INSTRUCTIONAL/TBALL PLAYERS DO NOT HAVE PLAYER EVALUATIONS
