Do we need a physical? Do you have a form?
Yes, ALL players and cheerleaders must pass a physical exam to be able to practice on the first day of practice. NO PHYSICAL NO PRACTICE. Physical must be done by a license M.D. or N.P. Physical done by a chiropractor will not be accepted. You can find this form under the HANDOUTS tab and is available to download.
Football and Cheer preconditioning is Tuesday & Thursday from 6pm-8pm beginning June 12, 2017 through July 28, 2017. Beginning July 31, 2017 Hell Week begins 5 days a week from 6pm-8pm. Beginning, Tuesday, September, 5, 2017 practices go down to 3 days a week (Tuesday-Thursday) from 6-8pm at Nellie Coffman Middle School. PARENTS PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR CHAIR DURING OUR PRACTICES. BRING WATER FOR YOUR PLAYER OR CHEERLEADER. WATER IS VERY IMPORTANT AND MANDATORY!!!
Why so many practices?
Per IEJAAFC Rules, to "certify" for playing, each football player must have 10 hours of physical conditioning in the Head Coach and Head AD's presence; in addition they must have 10 hours practicing in pads under the same conditions. After an initial conditioning program, cheer must learn many routines and cheers to be ready for games and competitions.
When and where are games?
Games are played on SATURDAYS. (The schedule will be determined by conference SOMETIME in August and given to our Executive Board and the AD's will pass it out to the parents.) Home games are held at Cathedral City High School's Football field. All away games are scattered throughout the Inland Empire.
What is Certification Day? What happens if we miss it?
Certification Day is a day-long MANDATORY event where all football teams from all IEJAAFC leagues go to "certify" their paperwork. FOOTBALL PLAYERS MUST BE PRESENT TO WEIGH IN (CHEER DOES NOT ATTEND IN PERSON). Absences on Certification Day disqualify a player from any and all contact, pads, scrimmages and games until make-up Certification (if any) is held, possibly weeks later.
What football equipment do I need to have or buy?
Items needed to buy: Football cleats (no screw-ons), mouth guard, protective cup, game socks, practice pants & jersey, and a water bottle. The program will issue to each player: all remaining equipment, such as helmet, shoulder pads & all other necessary pads,& game uniform.
How much volunteering is expected from parents?
Parents are requested to assist during game days at home; there will be MANY opportunities for you to help out during our football season. We will need help not only with our concession stand duty, but also with chains down markers during home games, and gate watch.
Concession Stand:
Help during home games is required of all parents, guardians or even an older brother or sister (must be at least 14yrs). The concession stand is CCYFL's main fundraiser and we need everyone’s help on Saturday's to keep it running. You will be asked to give 2 hrs per family and you will either work before or after your child’s game.
Is it mandatory to fundraise?
Yes, however, please keep in mind that fundraising is the one primary way that our league makes its money to function for a season. We will offer several different types of fund raising alternatives that parents can choose to participate in. We will also offer buy outs for each fundraiser.
