2012-13 Basketball Times Preseason All-American
· Member of 2012 Global Sports Select/All-Star Basketball Team that competed in Belgium and Holland

2011-12 Season
Nick Novak, a 2012-13 Basketball Times Preseason All-American selection, led the Mountain Cats in both scoring (19.5 ppg.) and assists (4.1 apg.) on his way to being named First-Team All-WVIAC. Novak, who became the 23rd Mountain Cat to reach the 1,000-point plateau at Glenville State (WV) College on December 3, also led the team in free-throw percentage at 85.8% and was second in field goal percentage at 58.5%. He ranked 17th in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage, 30th in scoring and 42nd in free-throw percentage. Novak enters the 2012-13 season ranked eighth on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,409 points and seventh on the all-time assists list with 384. Novak paced the Mountain Cats in scoring 13 times, including a season-high 30 points at Seton Hill on January 21. He also led the team in assists 17 times. Last summer, Novak represented the United States as a member of the Global Sports Select/All-Star Basketball Team that competed in Belgium and Holland.
Novak has career-highs of 31 points against Shepherd (WV) on Feb. 17, 2011, seven rebounds on four occasions, and 10 assists against Concord (WV) on Nov. 13, 2010 and 10 assists against West Virginia Wesleyan on Feb. 23, 2011.
2010-11 Season
Novak, a Second-Team All-WVIAC choice and a two-time WVIAC Player of the Week selection, paced Pitt-Johnstown in assists (155) and free-throw percentage (90.8%) and was second in scoring (18.0 ppg.). Novak was also second on the team in field goal percentage (55.9%), third in steals (22) and tied for third in rebounding (3.6 rpg.). He finished fourth in the country in free-throw percentage, 40th in field goal percentage and 76th in scoring.
2009-10 Season
Novak stepped into the starting point-guard position as a true freshman on his way to earning a spot on the WVIAC All-Freshmen Team. Novak finished third on the team in scoring (12.8 ppg.) and second in field-goal percentage (57.1%), steals (28) and assists (115). He also averaged 2.7 rpg. and shot 82.9% (68-82) from the free-throw line. Novak’s 57.1% (140-245) field-goal percentage ranked third in the WVIAC and 35th in the country, while his 4.1 assists per game ranked 89th in NCAA Division II. He led the team in scoring five times and assists 11 times. Novak also scored in double figures 17 times. Novak posted a single-game highs of 29 points on perfect 13-13 shooting at Shepherd on Feb. 27. He also grabbed seven rebounds at Fairmont State (WV) on Jan. 28, 2010, and dished out nine assists against Penn State-New Kensington on Dec. 9, 2009.
At Franklin Regional High School
Novak played for Head Coach Doug Kelly at Franklin Regional High School. Novak, a 2008-09 Associated Press Second-Team AAAA All-State selection, led the WPIAL in scoring in 2008-09 at 28.8 points per game on his way to being named the Section I Most Valuable Player. As a senior, Novak averaged 28.2 points, 5.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game. He holds Franklin Regional High School’s single-game scoring record with 45 points against Woodland Hills High School. His 618 points in 2008-09 is also the school’s single-season scoring record. Novak, the 2009 WPIAL Player of the Year, was selected to play in the McDonalds' Roundball Classic and Pittsburgh’s “Fabulous 5” All-Star Game. He led his team to the AAAA Section I championship and a spot in the PIAA State Playoffs.

2011-12: Started all 25 games at power forward and served as team captain as a senior…named All-UAA Honorable Mention…led the UAA at 7.7 rebounds per game and ranked second on the team at 12.0 points per game…led the team and ranked third in the conference in field goal percentage (.562)…scored a career-high 31 points in Throwback Weekend victory versus Brandeis on February 3…notched 1,000th career point on February 17 versus Rochester…totaled six double-doubles (points/rebounds) for the season…finished career with 722 rebounds, ranking second in program history.
2010-11: Played in 25 games with 23 starts and was third on the team in scoring (9.0 ppg) and tied for first in rebounding (6.8 rpg)…led the Spartans with 20 steals…posted a season-high 22 points on December 28 against Earlham…grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds versus Rochester on February 20…recorded two double-doubles (points/rebounds).
2009-10: Played in 21 games and finished fifth in the UAA in scoring (14.2 ppg) and second in rebounding (10.2 rpg)...earned second-team All-UAA honors...scored a season-high 22 points on November 24 versus Thomas More and set a career-high with 19 rebounds on November 16 versus Baldwin-Wallace...posted 12 double-doubles (points/rebounds)...named UAA Athlete of the Week on March 2 and was selected to the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Memorial All-Tournament Team.
2008-09: Appeared in all 25 games as a freshman and averaged 7.9 points and 5.8 rebounds...named UAA Athlete of the Week on January 20...recorded a pair of double-doubles, including first of career with 18 points and 15 rebounds versus Ohio Wesleyan on December 30.
Personal: Three-year letterwinner at Franklin Regional High School...named to the 2008 All-Section team in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League...also a two-year letterman on Franklin Regional golf team…son of Steve and Margie Summers.

2003-04
Steve played in all 27 games with four starts as a sophomore. His spark and terrific three-point shooting off Coach Rukavina’s bench helped the Mountain Cats to several victories. Steve averaged 7.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Steve’s 47.9% shooting from three-point range and 86.8% free-throw percentage were second on the team. Steve’s 35 three-point field goals ranked him third on the team. He also shot 50.4% (70-139) from the field and led Pitt Johnstown with 30 steals. Steve led the team in scoring once and scored in double figures 12 times as a sophomore. In two season at Pitt Johnstown, Steve has career highs of 22 points against East Stroudsburg University on 01/04/03, seven rebounds against Penn State-Fayette on 11/24/03 and four assists on five separate occasions.
2002-03
Steve played in all 27 games with 18 starts as a red-shirt freshman. He averaged 10.0 points (third on team) and led the Mountain Cats in three-point field goals made (48), three-point field goal percentage (44.9%) and free-throw percentage (82.0%). Steve earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Gannon University Gary Miller Classic.
Franklin Regional High School
Steve played for Head Coach Dom Berardanelli at Franklin Regional High School where he averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and five assists per game during his senior season. He was a 41% shooter from three-point range and a 92% shooter from the free-throw line. Steve was a two-time Pittsburgh Post-Gazette First Team All Section selection and a two-time Pittsburgh Tribune Review First Team All Section choice. Additional honors included: First Team All-Westmoreland County and two-time Second Team AAAA WPIAL. Steve led his team in scoring with 17 points in the Pittsburgh Hoops Classic All Star Game and was second leading scorer (14 points) in the Born to Run All Star Game. Academically, Steve graduated with honors from Franklin Regional High School.
