McKeesport, PA....August 2014

The final playoff spot for the 2014 DNL season was up for grabs until the very final game of the year. Not long after the conclusion of the regular season finale, the teams cast their ballots for the league's 2014 All-Stars, a team that wasn't fully decided upon until the last of these votes was received. The regular season ended with the teams occupying second through fifth place separated by a mere three games in the league's standings. The All-Star voting followed suit with three position votes ending in ties (indicated in the list below with a "T").

The fifteen member 2014 All-Star squad was made up of four individuals who were coming off of their first year of participation in the DNL. Eleven of the players receiving the post-season distinction did so for the first time in their DNL careers, more telling indications of the league's youth movement commitment, and corresponding influx of high school and college level players (see story of college players under the main menu).  On the other hand, the league's veteran player were lauded as well with Joe Aul being chosen as an All-Star for the fifth consecutive season. Also, Dan Campbell was named to the team for the third time in the nine years that the league has been recognizing its top players.  Chad Jacob and Ben Nolan were both repeat selections from the 2013 team.

South Park not only lead the regular season league standings to finish in first place, but also had a league best five players on the All-Star team. Each of the league's five teams that qualified for 2014 post-season play placed at least two players on the team. For the second consecutive year there were no unanimous selections while a total of forty different players were named on at least one All-Star ballot.  Those last two facts are strong reflections of the talent parity that existed among the league's member teams for the 2014 season.
