PLAYING RULES
1. GAMES – One Referee. One Timekeeper. No Game Sheet. No Stats. Timekeeper sets the clock for 50:00 running time as soon as the zamboni is off. Usual warmup. Game starts when both teams are ready. At the end of the first period (around the 25:00 mark, once play is stopped) teams switch ends and play resumes when both teams are ready. The clock will continue to run.
2. START OF THE GAME – Teams will start the game in the opposite end of their team’s bench and finish the game in their own team’s end of the ice.
3. GAME PUCKS – The Home Team is expected to provide a couple of game pucks.
4. JERSEYS – Players must provide their own jerseys. Home Team wears WHITE. Visitors wear DARK (check the schedule).
5. GOALS – Players can score as many goals as they want in Legacy League.
6. TIME OUTS – Each team gets one 30-second TV Timeout.
7. NO BODY CHECKING. NO SLAP SHOTS. NO ROUGH PLAY.
8. PENALTIES = PENALTY SHOTS – When a penalty is assessed, the penalized player will go to their bench and sit out a couple of shifts. The player who was fouled on the play will take a penalty shot. If a goal is not scored, the face-off will take place in the end zone next to the goalie who just made the save.
9. HIT THE SHOWERS – Any player who gets 3 penalties in the same game OR gets a major penalty OR plays in a reckless manner, will be sent to the dressing room for the rest of the game (and maybe longer depending on what they did).
10. PLAYING WITH NO GOALIE – A team with no goalie can play with 6 skaters instead. If one of the skaters is equipped with a goalie blocker and glove, she will have goalie privileges. A 6th skater defending the net with no goalie blocker and glove is considered an extra defence player and will have no goalie privileges. She cannot cover the puck and must attempt to play all icings.
11. PICK UPS – Only players registered in the Legacy League can be picked up to play for another Legacy team. Like other WHL leagues, players and goalies can play up a division, but not down. Teams can pick up the same player or goalie an unlimited number of times.
