Football Varsity Letter Eligibility

The following guidelines have been created by the WINGS Football Leadership to encourage our student athletes to strive for the highest levels of sportsmanship and godly character. These should be considered minimum standards.

1. Play in 16 different quarters of a regular season varsity football game. (Entering and playing for one play constitutes a quarter playing credit.)

2. Maintain a High level of enthusiasm and team spirit during all practices and games.

3. Minimal excused absences from practices and games. (No unexcused absences from games.)

4. Follow the football athletic guidelines of conduct and behavior. (Issues such as chronic absences, poor attitudes, or any actions causing a substantially negative team impact show a lack of respect for the organization's values and/or a lack of commitment to the team. In such cases, scrutiny of conduct for the awarding or witholding of a varsity letter will be at the Head Coache's discretion.)

5. Attend year-end banquet. (A player may be excused from the banquet because of personal illness and illness or death in the family.)

Additional Notes:

-The Head Coach reserves the right to waive requirements, when there are extenuating circumstances affecting a player such as personal injury or extreme hardship beyond a player's control, where that player would have normally been expected by the coaches to meet all Varsity Letterman requirements.

-Any player who strives to meet the team values and who dedicates to 4 years of High School level participation in football but does not meet playing time requirement, will be issued a letter at the end of their senior season.

-All awards will be held until any equipment issued is turned in and inventoried, and any outstanding fees are paid.

Any adaptations to the above guidelines and notes will be made only in the best interest of the student athletes and the organization. These rare occurences will be made at the Head Coache's discretion with oversight by the WINGS Athletics Committee.
