PVI Jumps to #3 in the Country!
(4-25-08) After a 21-0 start, the Panthers moved to their highest National ranking in school history, #3 in the country in Rise Magazine's National Baseball Top 25. PVI moved up in every other poll in the country including #6 in USA Today and Rivals, #9 in PG Crosschecker's ESPN poll, #10 in Collegiate Baseball/Easton and #17 in Baseball America.
PVI Panthers Ranked in 3 National Polls
(3-5-08) Rivals.com (http://ssbaseball.rivals.com) released the Student Sports Baseball Fab 50 pre-season poll in late February, ranking the defending WCAC Champion Paul VI Panthers #13 in the country. Perfect Game USA's www.pgcrosschecker.com (ESPN’s leading authority on amateur baseball content) released its pre-season National High School Top 100 (also in late February) and ranked PVI #19 in the nation. On March 5th Rise Magazine (www.risemag.com) realeased its National Pre-Season Top 25 with Paul VI Ranked at #17. This marks the third year in school history that the Panthers have been nationally ranked ('05, '07, '08) and #13 is PVI's highest national ranking ever. Paul VI's in-conference rival St. John's College HS ('07 WCAC Runner-Up) has been ranked anywhere from #2 to #21 in the nation by various pre-season polls. Having two teams in the nation's TOP-15 speaks volumes about the level of baseball played in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC). Both PVI and SJC will likely be near the top of many upcoming local, regional and national polls.
