Field Prep on the Diamond at Live Oak Park

When both teams playing are from TCALL, both teams are responsible for getting the field ready for the game.

When TCALL is hosting a team from another league, the team from TCALL is responsible for getting the field ready for the game.

Below are highlights from the field prep clinic and instructions on what to do.

DO NOT DRAG ANYTHING ONTO THE GRASS (i.e. Nail drag, Metal drag, Cocoa drag, etc.)

 

 

BEFORE THE FIRST GAME OF THE DAY

1.Water the infield grass and dirt.
2.Rake the pitcher’s mound.
3.Nail drag infield dirt, base paths and home plate area.
4.Metal drag infield dirt and base paths.
5.Use cocoa mop on pitcher’s mound.  Use cocoa drag on infield dirt, base paths and home plate area.
6.Use batter’s box template to create guide for chalker.
7.Chalk batter’s box.
8.Use string and nail to create guide for foul lines to first and third base.
9.Chalk the foul lines.
10.Water infield dirt if necessary.
11.Put bases in.
 
FOR GAMES AFTER THE FIRST GAME OF THE DAY
1.Rake/Mop pitcher’s mound (add water if needed).
2.Rake/Mop home plate area.
3.Re-chalk batter’s box, if needed.
4.Use broom on base paths.
5.Use cocoa drag on infield dirt.
6.Water infield dirt, if dusty.
 
AFTER THE LAST GAME/PRACTICE OF THE DAY
1.Put bases away.
2.Sweep dirt off edges.
3.Drag dirt with metal drag or cocoa drag.
4.Fill in any holes on pitcher’s mound.
5.Water infield grass and dirt.
6.Make sure equipment shed is locked.
 
 

 


Loop Area Set-up for Games

 

 

1.Set up bases from equipment shed.

 

2.Move benches to home and visitor’s sides.

 

3.If lines need to be repainted, let a board member know.
