Sergio Granados (Redlands, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football and track and field careers at Northwestern College next fall.

Granados is a 5’11”, 185-pound defensive back who lettered three years for the Redlands East Valley football team. He earned all-CBL honors for the second straight year in 2009 after totaling 97 tackles. Granados also defended six passes and was a key player in his team’s 11-1 finish. A two-time Scholar Athlete award recipient, Granados plans to major in business management at Northwestern. He is the son of Michael and Grace Granados.

“Sergio adds to the list of recruits from Redlands East Valley and we are excited that he has chosen to be a Red Raider,” commented head coach Kyle Achterhoff. “He is a very smart athlete who will be able to help us in a lot of different ways on the defensive side of the ball and special teams.”

A four-year letter winner in track and field, Granados earned all-CBL honors for three straight years as a sprinter. He boasts personal bests of 11.01 in the 100m, 23.7 in the 200m and 52.4 in the 400m.

“Sergio is a quality young man,” stated head track and field coach Nate Wolf. “He is a solid sprinter and will run the 100m-400m events for us. I look forward to working with Sergio and seeing his impact at Northwestern over the next four years.”
