RBI's Albaugh named Maryland Futures All-Star

Maryland RBI Baseball and Northern HS catcher Billy Albaugh (2015) has been

named among underclassmen chosen by the coaches of the Maryland State

Association of Baseball Coaches (MSABC) to participate in this year's Maryland

Futures All-Star game for the South Region.

A total of 90 juniors and sophomores were selected from four regional areas
throughout the state for the showcase event.

They will play on Thursday June 26th at Baysox Stadium at 5 pm.

"I'm real psyched, I can't wait," Albaugh said. "The end of the school year is
just dragging. I'm ready to get into summer for all the baseball."

Albaugh, starting catcher for the Northern HS Patriots team that finished 8-12
overall, batted .356 with 13 RBIs with 15 runs scored. The junior hit two doubles

and a triple and finished the High School season with only 2 strike outs.

After the high school season ended, Albaugh transitioned immediately into
19U and 23U wood bat travel with Maryland RBI. In 12 games so far, he is hitting
.395 after 38 At-Bats in 40 plate appearances. His OPS is .805.  

Albaugh said he was honored to be selected for Maryland Futures. "I didn't
even know it existed to be honest. But it's an honor," he said. "I think it's something

to be recommended by your coach, but selected by coaches who have no connection to

you, they just see a ballplayer and how you play the game."

Albaugh said the Futures honor says a lot about his teams.

"Basically, I have great coaches and teammates with Maryland RBI and
Northern. I appreciate Northern Coach (Bobby) Gibbons for recommending me.

"My RBI position coach, Jerry Gamblin, caught at the University of Michigan for 4

years and he challenges me year round to continue developing my catcher skills.

Colleges across the country have really taken notice of our program and success," he said.
"Being selected for Futures lets everybody in Maryland know how far our
program has come. So I think that's really awesome."
