Maryland RBI's Albaugh signs with NJCAA baseball powerhouse Prince George's

 
Maryland RBI Baseball's Billy Albaugh (Southern HS, Sr.) will join the NJCAA national championship contender Prince George's Community College baseball program once his high school days are behind him.

Last Saturday Albaugh signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for Prince George's, which reached the NJCAA Division III World Series in 2014 after winning the NJCAA Region XX championship. 

"It makes me proud," Albaugh said. "To be recruited by a program that won not just a conference championship but was among the top teams in the nation last year is awesome."  

Albaugh, who was recruited to play catcher and 3rd base, selected Prince George's after also receiving interest from York College, Millersville University, many Maryland community colleges, and Delaware Technical Institute.

"Coaches (Buddy) Foster and (Brandon) Owens made it clear they wanted me to play with them and I'm really excited. They're a winning program. It's close to home. I can come home when I want, and my family can come watch me play."

Prince George's assistant coach Owens, who has coached teams against Albaugh in travel-select for several years, stated the senior's bat makes him college material on the diamond.  "We feel that Billy is one of the top hitters in the Maryland class of 2015 and I have no doubt that he will make an impact immediately in the tough Maryland Juco league," Owens said. "We are happy to have him as an Owl."

Albaugh finished the 2014 high school season as one of the area's top catchers, batting .356 in 20 games with 15 runs, 13 RBIs and only 2 strike outs. He was named a MSABC Futures, won All-County 1st team for a second year and was All-Conference honorable mention. He was also Second Team Academic All-Conference and was named Maryland AAU Outstanding Player in 2014 and earned AAU National Underclassmen All-Star honors in 2013. He was a 2015 MSABC Preseason All-State nominee.

After the 2014 high school season ended, Albaugh played 19U and 23U wood bat travel with Maryland RBI. He also spent time playing with the Calvert American Big League team and as a guest player for the 18U Maryland Arsenal. He played more than 85 total games last year. For the 2014 Summer/Fall seasons through 41 official games, he hit .416 in 108 at-bats with only 5 strikeouts.

Prince George's competes in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference in Division III along with Westmoreland County Community College, Montgomery College, Butler County Community College (Pa.), CC of Allegheny County-Boyce, and CC of Allegheny County-South.
