RBI’s Cummings, Fedorczyk, Graham, McGrath, Stanbery All-Conference Academic

  

Maryland RBI players CJ Cummings, Jake Fedorczyk, Connor Graham, Mac McGrath and Dominic Stanbery have received academic awards from the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) for high school sports.

 

Playing for the MPSSA Class AAA Northern HS baseball team, 2015 graduate Cummings and Fedorczyk and Graham, both seniors, have been named to the 2014-2015 SMAC All-Conference Academic First Team for the spring season. McGrath and Stanbery have been named to the All-Conference Academic Second Team.

 

The first team is comprised of student-athletes who lettered in a varsity sport as well as excelling at the highest academic level for the 2014-2015 academic year with a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative GPA; the second team, 3.0 GPA.

 

"All our guys work really hard all year around in everything that they do," said manager Mike Graham. "They are always trying to be better on the field and that translates into their academic work. They know how to succeed and these awards just show that you can be a strong baseball player and strong student at the same time."

 

As a senior at Northern HS, Cummings hit .273 for the Patriots in 2015 with a .304 OBP.

 

Fedorczyk hit. 265 with 4 RBIs, 3 runs scored, and led the Patriots in doubles (5) and had a .977 fielding pct.

 

Graham hit .339 with 18 RBIs, 18 runs scored, and led the Patriots in doubles (5) and stolen bases (10) with a .431 OBP.

McGrath hit .300 with 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a double.

 

Stanbery went 2-1 on the bump with a 4.4 earned run average for the Patriots last spring as a junior, with 7 strikeouts and 5 walks in 17 1/3 innings pitched.

 

Cummings is a college freshman now playing club baseball at the University of Mary Washington.
