Payton emerged this summer as a high DI prospect after strong performances at the DeMarini Invitational and PGF Nationals. She was the ace of the Mustangs, which were the FloSoftball preseason No. 3-ranked team, going 21-1 with 122 strikeouts in 136 innings with a 1.45 ERA. The Florida sophomore was 5-1 at PGF with only one loss in bracket play. Payton throws in the 60-63 mph range with a strong riseball and dropball and spots her fastball well while having excellent command of her changeup. Several of her wins this summer came against FloSoftball-ranked teams at the 14U, 16U, and 18U levels. Payton has four offers pending and has many schools across the nation pursuing her.
