2018 Post Game Summaries

PENNSBURY 12, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 11 - MAY 11, 2018

First Lily Nolan reached 200 career goals. Next Carolyn Thistlewaite reached 100 career goals. Then Nell Webber got Pennsbury to 12 goals. Finally Caitlyn Doyle made it stand up.  Webber, a Boston College field hockey recruit, snapped a tie game with 5:46 to play to give Pennsbury a 12-11 win over New Hope-Solebury Friday afternoon in the regular season finale for both. Pennsbury improved to 11-6 while winning its fifth straight, and fourth this week, as the Falcons posted a seven-game improvement after last year's 4-13 record.  New Hope-Solebury is now 11-4.  Nolan, the Pennsbury senior, came into the game with 197 career goals and then scored three times in the first half to get to 200. Nolan came into her senior year with 125 goals and now has 75 in the 17 games this year, an average of 4.4 per game.  When Nolan scored her 200th, she was met on the field by all of her teammates. New Hope-Solebury enjoyed a similar celebration later, when Thistlewaite, a sophomore, scored her 100th as part of a five-goal afternoon.  Pennsbury led 3-0 after goals by Webber, Annie Price and Emelie Curtis in the first seven minutes before NH-S ran off six of the next seven, going up 6-4 with 1:38 in the half. Nolan would score goal No. 199 with 22 seconds left after running under a long pass from Price and then, after Price won the draw, Nolan reached her major milestone - and tied the score at 6-6 - with 10 seconds left in the half.  The Falcons would never trail in the second half, but the game would be tied at 6-6, 7-7, 8-8 and finally 11-11 after the Lions scored twice in a three-minute span to even it. Webber, who had a two-goal, two-assist day, scored what would be the game-winner after she scooped up a loose ball in front after a save by New Hope-Solebury goalie Lola Dardzinski and shot it high into the back of the net.  The Lions would have four more possessions after that, and all four would end in turnovers. Doyle, a junior defender, caused two of those turnovers, including the final one with just over a minute to play. Sydney Plunkett then picked up the loose ball and cleared it, and Pennsbury ran out all but the final seconds.
Dardzinski and Pennsbury's Natalie Smith made 15 saves each.  New Hope-Solebury   6-5   11    Pennsbury   6-6   12

PENNSBURY 14, UPPER MORELAND 8 - May 10, 2018
On a day when Annie Price scored her 100th career goal, Emelie Curtis went over 100 career points and Maddie Spratt showed that she'll be challenging those numbers soon enough, the key players for the Pennsbury girls' lacrosse team were the ones who can't easily be measured statistically.  Pennsbury's defense played its best game of the season as the Falcons defeated Upper Moreland 14-8, improving to 10-6 and reaching double figures in victories one season after winning just four games.  The Falcon D of Gillian Dysart, Mia Doron, Sydney Plunkett, Caitlin Doyle, Katie Bryson and Samie Hackman held UM to just 15 shots in the game and limited the visitors to two goals during a 31:04 stretch as Pennsbury turned a 3-3 tie midway through the first half into an 11-5 lead midway through the second. Spratt, a freshman, had a career-high six goals and added an assist for a seven-point day, giving her 16 goals and 12 assists for the year. Curtis, a sophomore, scored the first goal of the day to give her 100 career points and later added another goal and two assists.  As for the Princeton-bound Price, she had a two-goal, three-assist afternoon. It was her goal with 14:29 to go built the lead to six at 11-5.  That goal was also the 100th of her career, to go along with 51 career assists for 151 career points. Price had just one goal and no assists for her freshman year and had just six goals for her career eight games into her sophomore season before adding 94 in the 43 games since.  Lily Nolan had two goals for Pennsbury, and Nell Webber and Brooke Weaver had one each. Webber, Sarah Mac Davis and Emily Engeland had an assist each.  The win moved Pennsbury into 23rd place in the District 1 AAA power rankings. The Falcons (10-6, 4-4 SOL) end the regular season hosting New Hope-Solebury Friday.

PENNSBURY 13, PENNRIDGE, 10 - MAY 9, 2018
(Submitted article Pennsbury lacrosse)
So here was the situation for the Pennsbury girls' lacrosse team at halftime of its game against Pennridge Wednesday afternoon: the Falcons trailed, the Rams' goalie was on fire and the game had huge playoff implications. What happened next? Pennsbury played about as solid a half as it has played all year.  Emelie Curtis had five goals and one assist, leaving the sophomore with 99 career points, as Pennsbury overcame that halftime deficit - and an incredible 23-save performance by Pennridge goalie Alexa Machado, to win 13-10.  The win was Pennsbury's eighth this season against a team it lost to a year ago. More importantly, it improved Pennsbury to 9-6 on the year and kept the Falcons in the thick of the race for the final spot in the upcoming District I AAA playoffs. In fact, Pennsbury is 24th in the district power rankings, and the top 24 will make it into the postseason.  Pennsbury ran out to a 5-1 lead in the first half before Pennridge, who beat the Falcons 17-10 last year, got hot, tying the game with a 4-0 run over a 6:35 span and then, after Curtis scored her second, taking a 7-6 lead with two goals 20 seconds apart in the final 38 seconds of the half.  If Pennsbury didn't have the momentum at the break, it didn't matter once the second half started. Pennsbury would outscore the Rams 7-3 after the break and outshoot them 27-9. Only Machado's 18 second-half saves kept it close. It was, though, close, as in 9-8 Pennridge as the second half reached its midway point. Then the Falcons went on a 5-1 run of its own to end the game, getting goals from Maddie Spratt, Annie Price and Nell Webber before Curtis put in the final two.  Price finished with three goals and an assist, while Lily Nolan had two goals and an assist. Sarah Mac Davis had the other Pennsbury goal, while Brooke Weaver and Mia Doron had assists. Natalie Smith had eight saves for the Falcons.  Macy Price’s four-goal effort led the Rams while Alex Lippman added a hat trick. Jenna Lund, Casey Hefner and Aubrey Mauher each had one goal. Price had four ground balls, and Mauher had three. Lund and Hefner each had three draw controls.  Pennsbury (9-6, 4-4 SOL) has two regular-season games left, Thursday against Upper Moreland and Friday against New Hope-Solebury. Pennridge (7-8, 3-5) will host Souderton in a non-league game on Friday.   Pennridge   7-3   10     Pennsbury    6-7      13

PENNSBURY 15, NESHAMINY 5 - May 7, 2018
(Submitted by Pennsbury Lacrosse)
Katie Denis, Lily Nolan and Annie Price were all smiles and hugs after Monday's Neshaminy-Pennsbury girls' lacrosse game, and so what if they weren't teammates. While it was Senior Day for Neshaminy, the bond between the three of them goes back long before they found themselves on opposites sides in high school.  Denis, Nolan and Price have spent a lot of time together on lacrosse fields in their lives. The Neshaminy-Pennsbury game Monday afternoon was the final time, which made it more emotional than even your average Senior Day.  Denis, from Neshaminy, and Nolan and Price, from Pennsbury, combined for 13 of the 20 goals scored in Pennsbury's 15-5 win Monday. Nolan and Price had five each, while Dennis scored three, including the 200th of her career.  The three were barely bigger than the lacrosse sticks they carried onto the field when they were first teammates. That was nearly a decade ago, when the three were teammates in Lower Bucks Lacrosse, on the third/fourth grade level. They would play together through eighth grade and even beyond, first as teammates with LBL and in the summer with Tri-State and later Ultimate.  Now high school seniors, the three have 488 career varsity goals between them. They will go their separate ways next year, when Denis attends Pitt, Nolan goes to Franklin & Marshall and Price goes to Princeton.  Denis reached the 200 mark with a free position goal with 12:20 to go in the first half, giving the Redskins a 4-3 lead and setting off a huge celebration on the field with her current teammates. Once play resumed, though, the Falcons took over, running off 11 straight goals to build a 14-4 lead late in the second half. Nolan tied it on one of Emelie Curtis' five assists, and then back-to-back Price goals put Pennsbury up for good.  Price added three assists for an eight-point day. Sarah Mac Davis, another Lower Bucks teammate from the early days, had two for the Falcons, while Nell Webber had two goals and an assist and Brooke Weaver had a goal and three assists. Natalie Smith made 13 saves for Pennsbury.  Kelsey Goetz had the other two Neshaminy goals.  Pennsbury (8-6, 3-4 SOL) will host Pennridge on Wednesday, and Neshaminy (5-9, 0-6) will host Central Bucks West on Wednesday.

PENNSBURY 18, JENKINTOWN, 14 - SENIOR NIGHT - MAY 3, 2018

The Pennsbury girls' lacrosse Class of 2018 was honored at midfield before its game against Jenkintown Thursday night. Once the game started, the seniors moved the celebration to the goal.  Pennsbury celebrated its seniors before and during its game against Jenkintown Thursday night, and when it was over, the Falcons had seven different fourth-year players find the back of the net, combining for all but one of the team's goals in an 18-14 win.  Lily Nolan led the way with seven goals and two assists, while Annie Price had a three-goal, three-assist, six-draw control, three-caused turnover evening.  Seniors Kyra Snyder and Natalie Ward each had two goals, their first two of the season, and defender Emily Engeland also had a goal, her first, to go along with an assist. Sarah Mac Davis and Nell Webber, two more seniors, had one each.  Sophomore Emelie Curtis had a goal and three assists.  Pennsbury improved to 7-6 on the season will travel to Neshaminy on Monday.

NORTH PENN 12, PENNSBURY 11 - May 2, 2018

It was the story of two halves.

The Knights had the better of play in the first half of Wednesday’s “Lax for Leukemia” game, opening up a 9-5 lead and appearing to be very much in command. The Falcons proved otherwise, outscoring their hosts 6-3 in the second half. Maddie Spratt almost sent the game to overtime after Pennsbury’s Emily Engeland intercepted a clearing pass with about five seconds left and then fed it to the freshman in front. Spratt then scored, but the goal came just after the final horn, as North Penn escaped. “We were up 4-0, 5-0, and we were playing well,” North Penn coach Heather Mellow said. “We were feeding off each other offensively, we were stopping them defensively.  “They put in a couple goals, and at halftime, I think we just relaxed. We relaxed too much. Pennsbury is a team that has some good players, and that’s a team that’s not going to give up. They’re a good program this year. I think we just took them a little too lightly in the second half. We were back on our heels.”
Pennsbury battled from behind all night after falling behind 4-0 in the first three minutes, finally tying it 10-10 on a Nolan free position goal with 13:19 left. Even after North Penn went back up 12-10, the Falcons didn't give up, as Maddie Spratt made it a one-goal game with 4:46 left.
“We just didn’t take care of the ball,” Mellow said. “We took some time off the clock, but we did not take care of the ball well enough at the end of the game and just made some silly mistakes.  “When there’s eight seconds left on the clock, you just throw that ball to the other end of the field or run it and keep on going. They scored right after the buzzer went off - the buzzer went off and they scored. It was that close to going into overtime. I felt bad for them because they fought so hard to come back and tie it up, and they did a good job. That’s a tough one to swallow. It all happened within a split second. We’re lucky we walked away with that.”  The Knights were led by the four-goal, one-assist effort of Kelly Macnamara. Heather Shannon added three goals and an assist, and Bri O’Donnell had two goals and one assist. Kristin Varilla had two goals, and Grace Sacchetti had one. Ashley Lambert recorded 10 saves in goal for the Knights.  Pennsbury was led by Lily Nolan, who had four goals and five draw controls. Annie Price had two goals and two assists, while Emelie Curtis and Maddie Spratt had two goals and one assist each. Brooke Weaver had a goal and two assists.  “I have to give Pennsbury a lot of credit,” Mellow said. “They put together a really nice second half compared to us.  “We did fight back, but we came out a little flat in the second half and didn’t take care of things and got burned. I’m not sure how many of their players are seniors, but it seems as though they’ve been playing together and playing off each other for some time, and you can tell. They played very well together. They fought back,”  Making the win especially sweet was the fact that it came on the Knights’ “Lax for Leukemia” game.
“We had never won ‘Lax for Leukemia,’” Mellow said. “It’s always been these really hard fought games against good teams, and this is the first time we came out victorious.  “We started this event four years ago in honor of a former North Penn lacrosse player, Alyssa Oxenford, who lost her battle with leukemia two years ago. The symbolism behind the meaning of tonight’s game – and how we had to fight to win, couldn’t have been more apropos.”  North Penn (7-6, 5-1 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham on Friday, and Pennsbury (6-6, 2-4) will host Jenkintown in a non-league game on Thursday at 7 p.m.     Pennsbury       5-6   11       North Penn     9-3   12

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 15, PENNSBURY 8 - April 30, 2018
Dani Dundas was all but unstoppable, scoring eight goals to lead the Bucks to the win. Maddie Maio added four goals and one assist while Casey Reichwein, Emma Haring and Lucy Varner had one goal each. Contributing one assist each were Liv Fitzgerald and Chloe Miller Russo. For the Falcons, Emelie Curtis had three goals and two assists and Lily Nolan added three goals. Annie Price had a goal and an assist with three caused turnovers. Maddie Spratt also contributed a goal.  West goalie Lauren Ring was credited with five saves in the win. Falcon goalie Natalie Smith also had five saves.  Central Bucks West (12-1, 5-0 SOL) will be on the road at Central Bucks South on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and Pennsbury (6-5, 2-3) will travel to North Penn on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.   Central Bucks West    7-8   15    Pennsbury       3-5

Pennsbury 14, West Chester East 13 - April 28, 2018
Pennsbury's Maddie Spratt has shown the potential in her freshman year to become a dominant player in time. She moved the timeline up quite a bit in Saturday's game against West Chester East.  Spratt had three goals and four assists and scored the game-winner with 7.1 seconds to go as the Falcons defeated WC East 14-13. For Spratt, the goal total equaled her previous season total and the four assists were within two of her total prior to this game.  Pennsbury was led by Lily Nolan, who had six more goals after her nine-goal performance against Souderton Thursday. Nolan is now one away from her third-straight season of at least 50 goals.  The Falcons led throughout before West Chester East tied it with a pair of goals 10 seconds apart with just under two minutes to play. The winning play started with a caused turnover by Annie Price, who ran it down the field and got it to Brooke Weaver, who found Spratt for the winner. Price, who had three goals and nine draw controls, then won the final draw as Pennsbury ran out the clock.  Pennsbury (6-4, 2-2 SOL) will host Central Bucks West on Monday.

SOUDERTON 16, PENNSBURY 15 (OT) - April 26, 2018
(Submitted by Pennsbury lacrosse)
Just when it looked like 50 minutes would be enough for Souderton, Emelie Curtis tied it. Then, when it looked like 56 minutes wouldn't be enough for either team, Riley McGowan ended it.  Curtis, a Pennsbury sophomore, scored with 4.4 seconds to go in regulation to force overtime, and then McGowan scored the game-winner with 4.5 seconds left in the overtime as Souderton escaped with a 16-15 thriller over the Falcons.  It was a day when shots outnumbered turnovers by nearly three to one and both teams played as hard as they could from the opening whistle. No lead was safe, not when Pennsbury led by four in the second half or when Souderton led by two and had the ball with a little more than two minutes to go.  It was also a day for huge individual performances. McGowan's game-winner was her fifth of the day, and that was only a little past halfway to Pennsbury's Lily Nolan, who had a career-high nine goals. Curtis had her first career four-goal game and added three assists for a career-high seven points.  Souderton led 4-1 before a six-goal Pennsbury run that featured four from Nolan and one each from Annie Price and Mia Doran. After Souderton rallied to tie, Nolan scored from Curtis with 21 seconds to go to make it 8-7 at the half.  Pennsbury pushed out to an 11-7 lead before Souderton came back and made it 15-13 on McGowan's fourth, with 2:35 left. Souderton then won the draw, but Pennsbury regained possesion, leading to Nolan's ninth, with 1:52 left. Souderton got a stop and clear with 30 seconds to go before a turnover, giving Pennsbury a final chance.  Caitlin Doyle ran it down the right side for the Falcons and then tried to feed the middle. The ball rolled through to Curtis on the back side, who picked it up and tied it with just 4.4 to go.  Lauren Scott made two saves for Souderton in OT. The teams seemed destined to go past the six-minute OT as well before the Falcons went offside, giving Souderton a possession with 9.5 to go. McGowan took a feed in the middle and fired it into the net, finally ending it.
*******
In addition to scoring five goals, McGowan also had a pair of assists for a seven-point game to go along with two caused turnovers. Sarah Goodwin also had a big game for the Indians, dominating play on the draw and finishing with 21 draw controls to go along with four goals and three assists for a seven-point game.  “Sarah Goodwin really did a great job the second half of the game with draw controls and just played really well,” Souderton coach Nancy Offner said. “They’re a fast team, and they have a lot of talent. They’re good with their sticks. It was a very challenging game for us.”  Carlie Doughty and Kate Connolly both added a pair of goals. Doughty had one caused turnover and Connolly, one draw control. Randi Hess had one goal and three draw controls. Anna Anello and Juliana Borisow both had one goal. Borisow also had three draw controls. Liz O’Hara had an assist on the game winner in addition to two caused turnovers.  Lauren Scott once again came up huge in goal for the Indians, turning away 15 shots with two clutch stops in OT.  “It was not a pretty game for us,” Offner said. “They really had to dig deep.  “I think our midfield transition looked better today. We got a lot of good connections out of Randi Hess and Liz O’Hara. Once again, we have a lot of people contributing to scoring, and Lauren (Scott) really did play strong for as nervous as she had to be in overtime.”  Souderton (8-4, 4-1 SOL) will travel to Quakertown on Monday, and Pennsbury (5-4, 2-2) will travel to West Chester East for a non-league game on Saturday.   Souderton           7-8-1   16      Pennsbury          8-7-0   15

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 22, PENNSBURY 12 - APRIL 23, 2018
If you like offense, then Central Bucks High School was a good place to be Monday afternoon. Pennsbury and CB South combined for 34 goals and 69 shots, with 22 and 44 of those belonging to the home team.  If you don't like math, that added up to a 22-12 Central Bucks South victory. Pennsbury trailed 7-1 at one point and 11-4 at the half but would get within four in the second half.  Kasey Dietzel had a busy night for the Titans, scoring eight goals and assisting on four others for a 12-point night. She also had 23 draw controls in a dominant performance. Anna Green also had a 12-point night, scoring nine goals and assisting on three others. Francine Richick added four goals while Deanna Bongarzone and Erin Mayeros both had one. Lauren Robinson recorded eight saves for the Titans.  Lily Nolan led Pennsbury with five goals, while Annie Price had three goals, one assist and eight draw controls. Freshman Maddie Spratt had her first career four-point game with two goals and two assists, and Emelie Curtis had a goal and three assists for four points as well. Nell Webber also had a goal, and Brooke Weaver had an assist, while Natalie Smith made 12 saves.  Central Bucks South (7-3, 2-2 SOL) will host Council Rock North on Wednesday, and Pennsbury (5-3, 2-2) will host Souderton on Thursday.  Pennsbury 4-8    12     Central Bucks South   11-11    22

PENNSBURY 12, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH, 1 - APRIL 19, 2018
Once again, the Pennsbury girls' lacrosse team has beaten a team it lost to a year ago. This time, the win was even more special, since it meant that Pennsbury had eclipsed its win total of all of last year and needed just seven games to do so.  Lily Nolan and Annie Price had five-point days - and neither took a second-half shot - to lead Pennsbury to a 12-1 win over Council Rock North Thursday afternoon. The game improved the Falcons to 5-2 on the season after a 4-13 season last year, and all five wins have come against teams who beat Pennsbury a year ago.  Nolan started the scoring less than a minute into the game on an assist from Brook Weaver, and it would be 10-0 Falcons by the half. Nolan would finish with four goals and an assist while Price had two goals and three assists, and all of their scoring came in the first half.  Emelie Curtis and Nell Weber also scored twice, while Weaver had a goal with two assists and Sarah Mac Davis had a goal and assist. Curtis also had an assist, and Natalie Smith made five saves.  Pennsbury (5-2, 2-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks South on Monday, and Council Rock North (0-4, 0-2) will host Central Bucks West on Monday.   Council Rock North  0-1   1         Pennsbury  10-2    12

PENNSBURY 10, COUCIL ROCK SOUTH 6 - APRIL 18, 2018
(Article submitted by Pennsbury lacrosse)
Emelie Curtis gave the Pennsbury girls' lacrosse team the lead early in the second half of its game against Council Rock South Wednesday afternoon. Then, after a very dramatic pause in the scoring that lasted more than 20 minutes, Curtis put the game away for the Falcons.  Curtis had a three-goal, two-assist afternoon to lead Pennsbury to a 10-6 win over CR South, improving the Falcons to 4-2 and matching the team's win total for all of 2017. Pennsbury's four wins are all against teams it lost to in 2017.  Lily Nolan scored four times for Pennsbury, while Claudia Steinmetz had three goals for the Golden Hawks.  The game was even at 5-5 at halftime and 6-6 after Steinmetz and Nolan traded goals early in the second half. Curtis gave Pennsbury its first lead with 22:50 go play at 7-6, and that's where it would stay.  For five minutes. For 10 minutes. For 15 minutes. For 20 minutes. Neither team would change the score in all of that time, though it wasn't for lack of trying. In fact, Pennsbury took six shots during that run - with five saves by Sophia Kutsaya and one shot off the pipe. Council Rock South threw 12 shots at Pennsbury's Natalie Smith, who turned away all seven that were on goal.  That's when Curtis took over again, with a perfect feed to Nolan on the crease that finally broke the long scoreless stretch and made it 8-6 with 2:38 left. Curtis then scored again and set up Nell Webber for the last one of the day.  Of Pennsbury's final four goals, Curtis scored two and assisted on the other two.  The first half ended 5-5 and was back and forth, as Council Rock South scored the first three, Pennsbury answered with the next three, Council Rock South put up two more and Pennsbury then tied it as Annie Price scored twice 29 seconds apart in the final minute before the break. Pennsbury (4-2, 1-1 SOL) will host Council Rock North on Thursday, and Council Rock South (6-2, 1-2) will travel to Cheltenham on Friday for a non-league game.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 10, PENNSBURY 9 - April 13, 2018
The Spartans took a 6-4 lead into halftime and held on to win by one goal in a tightly-contested battle. Lindsey Smith once against came up big for the Spartans, scoring five goals, earning nine draw controls and scooping up two ground balls. Ellie Hamilton also turned in a strong outing, contributing three goals, five assists and one caused turnover. Emily Walsh added two goals, one draw control and two ground balls. Charlotte Henry had two assists, one ground ball and one caused turnover. Gracie Woron was credited with two ground balls and four caused turnovers. Molly McGoldrick had one ground ball and one caused turnover.  Annie Price scored four goals to reach 100 career points. Nolan cut the lead to two with seven minutes remaining, and Price made it a one-goal game with 23.5 seconds to play. Pennsbury won the ensuing draw but could not get the equalizer.  Annie Ryan was credited with seven saves in goal in a winning performance.  The Spartans (4-2, 0-1 SOL) will travel to Germantown Friends for a non-league game Saturday, and Pennsbury (3-2, 0-1) will host Council Rock North on Monday.  Springfield      6-4   10Pennsbury       4-5   9

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 16, PENNSBURY 6 - April 11, 2018
The Patriots reeled off their fourth straight win since dropping their season opener. In Wednesday’s conference contest, the Patriots jumped out to a 7-0 lead 10 minutes into the game. They took an 8-2 lead into halftime and added eight more goals in the second half to hand the Falcons their first loss of the young season.  Junior Brigitte Bishop had the hot hand for the Patriots, scoring six goals. Sophomores Quinn Ferry and Riley Forman each added three goals and two assists (five points), and sophomore Kieran Fink contributed two goals and two assists (four points). Senior Erin McGovern had one goal and two assists, and sophomore Katie Powell, one goal and one assist.  For the Falcons, Lily Nolan had a hat trick, and Annie Price had a pair of goals. Pennsbury 12, Hatboro-Horsham 7 - April 9, 2018
Natalie Smith and Lily Nolan were hot on a frozen night, and the two combined to bring Pennsbury to within one of its win total from all of last season. Smith made 16 saves and Nolan scored seven goals to lead Pennsbury to a 12-7 win over Hatboro-Horsham Monday night. The victory improved the Falcons to 3-0 this year after a 4-13 season a year ago, and all three wins have come against teams who beat Pennsbury a year ago. Hatboro-Horsham scored first and kept Pennsbury off the board until Emelie Curtis scored on a free position shot 13:24 into the game. Nolan then scored her first less than a minute later, and the Hatters would never tie the score again. It was 4-2 Pennsbury at the break, with three by Nolan, and she scored the first two Pennsbury goals of the second half to keep the Hatters away. The closest H-H would come would be one after two goals eight seconds apart, making it an 8-7 game with 6:06 to play. It stayed that way until Brooke Weaver scored with 2:22 to go, and Pennsbury then pulled away with three more after that. Curtis finished with two goals and two assists, her total in each of the first three games. Sarah Mac Davis scored twice for Pennsbury as well. Hatboro-Horsham outshot Pennsbury 29-24, but sophomore goalie Smith came up big time and again. Nolan ran her career total to 141 goals. Pennsbury will travel to Central Bucks East, and Hatboro-Horsham (0-4) will be on the road at Upper Dublin.

PENNSBURY 17, VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 4 - April 6, 2018
The 2018 Pennsbury girls’ lacrosse team has played two games and is halfway to equaling last year's win total.  For the second time in two games, Pennsbury defeated a team it lost to a year ago as it got six goals and four assists from Annie Price and another six goals and an assist from Lily Nolan to roll past Villa Joseph Marie 17-4 Friday afternoon.  VJM's Grace Hageman scored twice, including the 100th goal of her career.  Pennsbury, coming off a 4-13 season, opened with a win over a Wissahickon team it lost to a year ago by six goals and then the win over VJM, who beat Pennsbury by five in 2017.  The Falcons came out flying, as Price took the opening draw and fed Nolan for a goal just 12 seconds in. Price then scored her first on the next possession, making it 2-0 less than a minute in. By halftime Price had four goals and four assists and the score was 12-4.  Emelie Curtis had two goals and two assists for the second straight game for Pennsbury, while Brooke Weaver had two goals and an assist and Sarah Mac Davis had one of each.  Kelley Connor also had two goals for Villa. Pennsbury outshot Villa 33-12, and Villa goalie Samantha O'Hara made 11 saves.  Pennsbury (2-0) is at Hatboro-Horsham Monday night.

PENNSBURY 12, WISSAHICKON 11 (OT) - April 4, 2018

A little more than 20 minutes into its season opener Wednesday evening at Wissahickon, about the last thing that the Pennsbury girls lacrosse team figured to be doing at the end of the game was celebrating. And yet there were the Falcons when it finally ended, flying off the team bench together, all smiles, after digging their way out of an early hole for an unlikely, but highly satisfying, victory.  Pennsbury fell behind by six goals after 20 minutes and then shifted up a few gears, rallying to tie the game on a late Sarah Mac Davis free position goal and then winning it 12-11 in overtime on Lilly Nolan's third goal of the game, assisted by Emelie Curtis.
Annie Price led Pennsbury with five goals, and sophomore goalie Natalie Smith made 15 saves, nine in the first half, when the game really could have gotten away from the Falcons.  Pennsbury scored first, on a goal by Boston College field hockey commit Nell Webber, but the Trojans went on a big run, going up 7-1 after 20 minutes. Even after Price got one back, Wissahickon answered again, making it an 8-2 game.  The lead was still four for Wissahickon at 11-7 with 11:43 to play before Curtis sandwiched two free position goals around Price's fifth, making it 11-10 with 6:23 left.  Davis brought the Falcons all the way back with her own free position score with 2:54 to go in the second half, and neither team would score for the rest of regulation.  Wissahickon won the draw to start the overtime but turned it over. Pennsbury would clear, and then, after the teams traded turnovers near the Trojan goal (running the total number of turnovers between the teams for the night to 42), the F&M bound Nolan ended it when she curled around the goal, took a feed from Curtis and scored the winner.  Pennsbury (1-0) will host Villa Joseph Marie on Friday at 3:45 p.m., and Wissahickon (1-3) will be on the road at Central Bucks South on Monday for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
