Loudoun Xtreme 9th Makes Final 4 at NTBA Nationals

The Loudoun Xtreme Boys 9th grade team reached the Final 4 at NTBA Nationals in July. Xtreme finished 1st in their pool and advanced to the Gold Championship Bracket.

Xtreme beat a tough NOVA Cavs team 70-47 in the Sweet 16. This might have been the most complete game we played all year. The game was close most of the way until a late rush stretched out the lead. NOVA had a number of great shooters and our 3 point defense was a major key to the win.

In the  round of 8, Xtreme beat a very athletic Western Branch Jaguars team 81-65.  We scored half of our points on the fast break taking advantage of Western Branch's press and advancing to the Final 4.

In the semi's Xteme faced off against a very tough Big Shots Elite SC team. The game was close the whole way but Big Shots hit a number of key 3 pointers late to pull away 61-46. Big Shots Elite went on to win the championship 62-40 over Swish City Magic.

I would like to thank the boys for a great season. It was not the easiest of seasons as we had a couple of kids quit midway through the season, but in the end, it was definitely addition by subtraction. The boys who stayed showed they are committed and understand what it takes to compete and be a true team player.  The boys who attended nationals were Jason Green, Max Jannes, Augie Brody, Caleb Rexroad, John Cohen and Nick Crump.

Special thanks go out to our 2 guests, Nate Brafford and Deante Green.  Nate has played with us before but Deante played with us for the first time without a practice. This says a couple of things to me. First, Nate and Deante are talented but their ability to fit in with the boys on and off of the court was something special.  The core Xtreme players embraced Nate and Deante as if they had been with us all year.  There were no egos or complaining about playing time, they just wanted to win.
