NORCO LEGION SCOREKEEPER DUTIES
1. Home team scorekeeper is official scorer and must call game results to newspapers
by 9 PM game day. BOTH THE EXPRESS-TIMES (610-258-7171 or 610-867-5000)
AND MORNING CALL (610-820-6558 or 610-861-3600) ARE TO BE CALLED". Ask
for the Sports Dept.
2. Before calling the papers, be sure you have the information they want - score by
innings, line score, batteries, winning and losing pitchers, extra base hits, RBI's, and
other game highlights. Make sure you have the first names of all players.
3. Home team scorekeeper must send scoresheet to me for all official games (5 or
more innings), including ties. If scoresheets are not received within 5 days,
excluding Sundays and holidays, the home team will be fined in accordance with
league by-laws. I have provided self-addressed envelopes for the return of
scoresheets or you can send them to me via email if you wish. Scoresheets provided
by the league are the only ones that will be accepted.
4. Please include players' first names. Some teams have more than one player with
the same last name and first initial, so I won't know who it is without first name.
5. Home team scorekeeper must report all postponements and rescheduled games to
the league president (Pete Bilotta, 610-762-3873 or pbilotta@aol.com), the supervisor
of officials (Bob Varju, 908-319-7349 or rvarju@drjtbc.org), league statistician (Bob
Walker, 610-258-6667 or abwalker@rcn.com), webmaster (Joe Long, 610-867-6890 or
longy2093@ptd.net) and the newspapers.
6. SCORESHEETS MUST BE COMPLETE AND ACCURATE! Please use
scoresheets provided by the league. Individual player statistics are to be totaled
in the columns on the right side of the scoresheet. Please use numbers, not tick
marks or dots. An extra-base hit should be counted in the Hit column as well as 2B,
3B or HR. Hit by pitch should be put to the right of the last column on the scoresheet.
Batting and pitching awards are based on these scoresheets. If there is any question
on the scoring of a play, the home team's scorekeeper's judgment is final. I cannot and
will not change a scoring decision after the fact.
7. A starting pitcher must pitch 4 innings to get a win.
8. Whenever a substitute enters a game, both the inning and the position should be
clearly noted on the scoresheet. Use PH for pinch-hitter and PR for pinch-runner.
9. The "E" column is to be used when that player commits a fielding error, not when the
batter gets on via error.
