PRESS RELEASE:
"(March 10th, 2021)
Wolfpack soccer was founded in 2017 to give local soccer players the opportunity to play at a competitive level. After four seasons operating as part of the Hayward United Soccer Club youth organization, the Wolfpack have chosen to branch off and create a separate nonprofit club. The new organization, Hayward Wolfpack Football Club, was formed in hopes of solidifying adult soccer in the Hayward area for generations to come. The club's mission is to help the growth of soccer in both Hayward and Northwestern Wisconsin through three principles which the club strives to embody: Community, Passion, and Opportunity. The club will continue to have a working relationship with Hayward United to help support and grow youth soccer in Hayward.
Hayward Wolfpack FC compete in the Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL), a league consisting of high-level teams spread across Northern and Western Wisconsin. The club also plays a variety of friendlies against teams from Duluth, Ashland, and the Twin Cities, and compete in the nationwide USASA Amateur Cup annually.
Wolfpack players hail from across the Northland, including some local standouts at the high school level, and many players who have gone on to play, or currently play, at college and semi-professional level. With a full board, paid coach, and a committed team of volunteers, the club aims to set the standard for adult soccer in the Northland.
“We’re excited to welcome a new era of Wolfpack soccer. We’ve had some successful seasons over the past few years, but we wanted to make sure our club has the resources to be successful and self-sustaining moving forward. Our rebrand has gotten significantly positive feedback, and we’re proud of the new name and new look. We’re also bringing in some higher level players than we have before, and I’m excited to watch it all come together in May. Our mission for 2021 is to bring the WPASL Primary Cup trophy back to Hayward.” - HWFC President Kaden Bergman
The Wolfpack will play 2021 home games at Heidi Friermood Field, located on the Hayward High School campus. Team registrations for both the First and Reserve teams open March 10th and the Wolfpack's season will kick off May 2nd."
