Wolfpack Drop Season Opener in Amateur Cup

Hayward Wolfpack FC opened the season this past weekend in Osseo, MN against FC Minneapolis in the USASA Amateur Cup. The Wolfpack opened the scoring when Kaden Bergman beat a defender and snuck the ball into the bottom right corner of the net in the 6th minute. The Pack kept the pressure on, missing a few good chances and hitting the crossbar. As the half went on, Hayward started to lose steam, letting FC Minneapolis score 3 times in the last 20 minutes to go down 3-1 into half. The Second half didn’t go any better for the Wolfpack, who Were outshot and let in 4 more goals, losing by a score of 7-1.

“That was a learning game for us. We started strong but started losing our intensity as the game went on and we got tired. That team plays year round together and some of our guys hadn’t even met each other yet or played since August. That was evident during the game today.”

The Wolfpack return home this weekend as they have two games on Sunday, May 2nd. Hayward will take on Portside FC at 10:30am and Green Machine SC at 4pm. Both games will be played at the Hayward Intermediate School field, spectators should bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.
