Subscribe to our NewsletterCovid-19 protocol for all games at Westvale D, Meadowbrook and Berkeley:
- Social distancing of all coaches and players of 6 feet will be required whenever possible.
- There will be no spectator use of the bleachers or public benches. Please encourage all spectators to bring their own chairs.
- Players will bring their own chairs to sit in outside of the dugout when directed, and all of these chairs will be placed at least 6 feet from each other. Players will place their equipment bags by their chairs and minimize any temporary storage of personal items in the dugout. Players who do not bring a chair will have to stand behind the extended netting or in one of the designated spots for players outside the dugout.
- Masks are to be worn by all coaches while operating in their capacity as a manager or coach.
- Masks are to be worn by all players while their team is on offense and not in the process of performing an athletic activity. Running the bases, being at-bat, or taking practice swings in the on deck circle will be deemed as athletic activities. They will not be required to wear them while on defense. Masks are to be kept in the player’s pants back pocket when not in use.
- Spectators will be required to stay away from the dugouts and on deck areas. All spectators will be asked to stay at least 6 feet from each other while watching the game. We will also encourage limited spectators at the parks to make sure we can stay within the NJ DOH recommendations.
- Each family will be required to notify their team manager and the WBA division coordinator if their child has exhibited any symptoms of illness within 24 hours of an official WBA activity. They will not be permitted to play if they have specific symptoms that may be indicative of a contagious illness as noted on the CDC website.
- Prior to any WBA gatherings (practices, games, etc.), temperature checks for all participants must be conducted at home by an adult (parent / guardian / babysitter / etc). Anyone deemed to have a temperature above the thresholds set by the NJ DOH will not be allowed to participate and must stay home. We ask that at least one parent or guardian remain on site until your child is cleared to play that day, and that your emergency contact information is up to date in our database. The checks performed by any WBA coaches are informational only and do not imply any diagnosis on our part. The responsibility for the health status of each player still rests 100% with the player’s parents or guardians.
- Defense will be played with the emphasis of social distancing requirements.
- Players that are observed to sneeze or cough where they may transmit bodily fluids onto their hands will be required to use hand sanitizer before the next play. This may require a stoppage of play, and we will accommodate that as part of our local rules.
- Each player will be required to have hand sanitizer for their personal use at all WBA activities. Coaches will encourage the players to use their own hand sanitizer if they have made contact with anything that is not their own. Bathrooms will be available at Westvale and Meadowbrook, and we will encourage hand washing with soap as often as possible. We will look to limit the use of Berkeley school fields since no bathrooms are on site.
- Use of the playgrounds at either park is subject to Borough policy. WBA assumes no responsibility for any potential illness that may occur as a result of activity on the playgrounds. Failure to follow Borough policies may result in additional action, which could include suspension from the WBA.
The upstairs of the Meadowbrook field house will also be closed to non-authorized personnel until further notice. We will look to have the scoreboard and audio boards available on a limited basis at field level.
In addition please note:
NJ DOH quarantine requirements as a result of 1) testing positive for Covid-19, 2) being deemed as someone who meets the criteria for direct contact with a Covid-19 positive person, or 3) travelling to/from a state on the NJ list, must be followed. WBA policy will adhere to the requirements as set forth by the Borough of Westwood. Anyone not properly disclosing information that meets any of this criteria is subject to review by the WBA Executive Committee for further action.
WBA reserves the right to modify any conditions at any time to adhere to updated policies published from NJ DOH, Bergen County, and the Borough of Westwood.
