In a couple of great games to open the 2022 Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League Season Sunday afternoon June 5 at Tremaine Crescent in Windsor, the Sherose Island Schooners and Windsor Knights split a pair of games. In the opening game, Ty Ross's critical error for the Schooners in the Bottom of the 6th inning allowed the Knights to rally for four runs and win 7-3. Tritt Reed and Stefan Newell pitched in relief for the Schooners.
The Knights rally began with base-hits from Nate Bezanson and pinch-hitter Ryan MacLean who later advanced on a throwing error by the Schooners catcher. It was one of three errors by the Schooners in the 6th inning. The Knights entered the sixth inning trailing 4-3 and won sending ten players to bat. Elliot Dickson-Green pitched in relief for the Knights replacing starter Jason Hanes.
Sherose Island 7 Windsor 3
It was a different for the Schooners in the second game as they battled the Knights to a 3-3 tie afterr three innings before scoring twice each in the fifth and seventh innings to record the victory. Stefan Newell delivered a clutch RBI Double for the Schooners driving in Ty Ross who led off the Top of the fifth with a single. A wild pitch allowed Newell to advance to third and score on Nate Wickens RBI single. The Schooners added two more in the Top of th seventh on a Base-Hit by Newell, an error by the Knights First Baseperson Derrick Hart, a walk to Justin Newell and a double by Nate Wickens.
