10/15/22 - HALLSVILLE TRAILBLAZERS YOUTH XC CHALLENGE RESULTS

We must be living right because we've had an awesome season of GREAT weather.  Saturday was a wonderful day for running! It started out a bit cool upon arrival, and settled into an excellent weather day. Congratulations and many thanks to the Trailblazers for putting on a well run meet.  This was the first time CMAC has had a meet at that facility, and I think things worked out rather well there.  Really good atmosphere again today, and the kids are showing steady impovement.

For most of you, this approaching week is your final week of the season.  If this is the case for you, make it the best week of practice, and go for the best finish possible in Columbia.  For those choosing to extend their season, look out for the Google Form sometime this week to put in your intentions for regionals and nationals.  If you don't plan to go to either, then there is no need to submit the form.  Also, if your club is shutting down practices after the CMAC Championship meet, those that wish to can join in with Blue Thunder's practices in Columbia through Nationals.  Of course, this is far for plenty of you, but for families in Fulton, Holts Summit, Centralia, Hallsville, etc... clorse to Columbia this may be a good option for you to keep sharp through the post-season.  If interested, you can email at COMOCMAC@gmail.com so you can get updates.

The CMAC Championships are coming on Sunday in Columbia.  We'll be awarding top 10 in each age / gender group, also plaques will be awarded to each team champion, and the all S.T.A.R. (same as All-Conference) top 7 will receive trophies.  It should be a great day of competition.  Speaking of competition, I'm expecting the St. Louis Blazers to show up at that meet.  A couple came to some earlier meet, but now I believe we'll see plenty more.  With them being outside of the circuit, they can compete with us, but will not be allowed to win a team title in any age groups.  But, they will be able to receive medals if placing in the top 10.

The CMAC Championships course is a fun one.  There are long straights, some hilly portions (tougher on the 3K), and a few twists and turns.  The 4K is a repeated 2K just as the last couple of meets have been.  The 13-14s will run with the 8Us.  Meet info packets went out to all team coaches, so they should be getting them to you soon if they've not already.  I'll accept all helpers for that meet to make it go as well as I'd like.  Just let me know if interested.

With regards to the post-season, note that you'll need to pay for your regional meet fees.  That will be done in Grain Valley to CMAC, then CMAC will write a check to the regional meet.  Here is the regional meet information.  I'm still working on an activity for the team to do on Friday, 11/18 before or after our course walk in Indiana.  Hoping to get a bowling alley nearby the course to unwind, do some light competing, have fun and also eat.  So, when planning, you are going to want to be there Friday if you can in the afternoon. It isn't required, but going through that course walk will be beneficial.  There isn't much of a chance to do a walk the day of the meet. IMPORTANT: In your planning for Indiana, note the time change.  Shelbyville is in the Eastern Time Zone which is an hour ahead of us!  Here is the meet information for Nationals.   For both regionals and nationals, we'll need we'll need to secure some adult group leaders / coaches for each age & gender group.  The chance notify that you want to be that person for either or both will be in the Google form coming to you soon.  Finally, if any of you would like to donate to the CMAC All Stars national trip, you by all means can.  You can do it personally, or if you know of a company, organization, etc taht would like to do that, please let me know!

I'll say this again... we want the kids that are absolutely loving this sport to be part of the post-season.  If parents or coaches are having to beg someone to practice, push hard, and do the little things to be their best, then those are not the kids that should do it.  We don't want parents forcing a kid to do post-season at all either.

If planning to be part of the CMAC All Stars team, you will need to secure a pair of solid black shorts as part of the uniform.  You'll check out CMAC black singlets at the meets, and you'll turn them back in when done racing.  So, you will not need your the team shirt / singlets from your town that you've run in so far this season.  Also, if you want to take it up a notch, get some CMAC All Star Socks!  Here are a couple options.

You can also get some customized CMAC gear on this website.  I think it is a bit overpriced honestly, but they have no minimums for ordering.

Thanks everyone for being part of this program.  It has been awesome watching it grow over the years.  Even though we lost 4 teams this season, our total numbers at meets are still the highest they've ever been.  I like to show every now and then how things used to look when we first started compared to how things are now. This is a video of the start of our first race ever in 2014.  And here are the results from that meet.  Quite a difference isn't it?  That's back when we'd combine boys and girls in the same age race.  We are waaaay too big for that now!
