M&M treat to start the season. Mission tops Maidens

At the Ronan Events Center for the inaugural Rez roundball rivalry wrangle of the new basketball season within the Mission Valley, it was an M&M confectionary treat for those in attendance between Mission and the Maidens. The visiting Lady Bulldogs of Mission in St. Ignatius didn't sugar coat the start of their season as they capitalized upon both forced and unforced turnovers in the first half to forge a multiple basket lead. The host Maidens were able to make adjustments by the second half, but were unable to carve their way out of  the double digit deficit of their undoing. Kason Page and Izzy Evans of Mission combined for 32 points. Maidens Lauryn Buhr and Nevaeh Perez tallied crazy eights, while Arianna Zepeda would have been on pace for a double-double with ten steals has she converted a combination of either a higher percentage of freebies or dropped some missed deuces. What ailed a more favorable outcome for the Maiden was a combination of factors that can be easily rectified: retention of ball control to bolster their shot opportunities in conjunction to refinements to their shot selections.

The Maidens will attempt to rein in if not saddle some Broncs at the NWA/SWA Tip-Off to be held in Frenchtown when they face the two top teams representing the West at the State A tournament last season, Frenchtown and Hamilton.
