POLSON 47 STEVENSVILLE 32 Lady Pirates repel pesky Lady Yellowjackets for third victoryby John HeglieAt Linderman Gym in Polson, the Lady Pirates applied the basketball equivalent of a hefty dose of repellant during the opening frame that proved effective at deterring subsequent incursions by Lady Yellowjackets the remainder of the contest. Polson held Stevensville at bay with a combination of sharpshooting from beyond the arc in conjunction with a suffocating defense. After failing to make a connection on their long distant calls from beyond the arc in their preceding pair of contests, the Lady Pirates had the hot touch in the first frame as they splashed four triples from long range with Aleysia Black netting a pair, while Sam Rensvold and Natalie Adams splashed the others. Rylee Taylor-Jefferson would contribute a fifth triple during second quarter action. Fab frosh Black would notch a career high among the mid-teens with 14 points. The Lady Pirates would have had a second player in double figures as Natalie Adams converted a deuce during second quarter action off an offensive rebound. But her reload putback effort was downgraded when it was dinged for an offensive charge, negating the play. Hinkley Moss and Rensvold collaborated on 19 rebounds with Mckenna Hanson gleaning the glass for another seven. Julia Barnard was the hostess with the mostest with three dishes for assists. In keeping with reputed pirating penchants associated with such mascot affiliations, Barnard and Rensvold picked opponent pockets when they pilfered three steals each.
