Maiden-Pirate rivalry wrangle postponed by rain for time being

Overcast, but relatively dry most of the day prior to game time, the pending precip must have been a fan of softball as it descended upon the Ronan venue as if to get a closer look at the action. A brief respite allowed for one and a half innings to get underway. Field conditions made for superb sliding into bases for runners when they succeeded on getting on board. But conditions soon deteriorated when puddles started forming, resulting in the game being called and deferred to pick up where it left off on another day, which in this case is slated to resume on Monday, April 8 at 4 o'clock with Ronan batting in the bottom half of the second inning, Mira Corum coming to the plate with Adrienne Crockett on deck, barring modification..
This contest is playing out more like their last clash at the 2023 Western A Divisional tournament, which was a narrow 7-5 edging as opposed to the regular schedule point spreads over the course of preceding seasons.
Since the game has yet to be completed, this cross-county clash warrants a wee review ofor reminiscence sake.
There have been only three occasions of Maiden mastery over the course of the history of Rez rivalry wrangles on the softball diamond between Polson and Ronan. The most recent traces back over a decade to 2010 when Bethany Coleman threw a 3-0 gem from the mound. The preceding year at the 2009 State A tournament in Polson, Ronan would eliminate Polson 1-0 in extra innings on a Jordan Strozzi sacrifice fly that plated leadoff Kelsey Clairmont as hurler Kaylee Larson went the distance on the mound for the Maidens.
The first Ronan triumph took place when they blemished Polson softball Senior Night the week prior to the 2004 State A tournament. Ronan hurler Cambrie Starkel held Lady Pirate bats in check just enough while her Maiden mates supplied run support in an 8-6 victory in which both teams combined for 21 hits.
Ronan came very close to a fourth time back in 2018 at home in a game that tied at ten after regulation as Polson's Vanessa Kent with some relief from Paige Noyes and Ronan's starter Gabby Wirz followed by reliever Macao Jackson combined to keep the lid on an offensive outing that included a combined eight hits for extra bases in an 11-10 ten inning affair. The Maidens had the go ahead run on third base with one out that could have ended the game in regulation had the runner plated but for a double play that Polson turned to wriggle off the hook. They would capture the contest by plating an extra inning run, then holding Ronan at bay the bottom half of the inning of that game.
When this game resumes, it is anticipated that it will pick up where it left off.
