Thanks. Jack G
Now that we are a few weeks into the 2024 season, I hope that everyone is using the new league website to get their information. I still get questions from players and managers, and most of the time the answer is easily accessible on the website. I recognize that not everyone is adept at navigating through a website, so I’d like to offer some tips and hints on what is on there, and where to find what you’re looking for. Feel free to reply with any questions, or see me at the field to ask.
League website – www.leaguelineup.com/nashuaseniorsoftball
My suggestion would be to add it to your favorites, or bookmark it, according to what type of browser or device you use. FYI, there is no need to remember a password. Everything you need to know is available without administrator rights.
- Note: the website is shared by the 60+ league and the 70+ league.
The most asked questions are:
- When is my next game? There are many places to find the answer.
o Go to the Welcome tab on the far left. This is the homepage. Scroll to the bottom and you’ll see Upcoming Games/Practices, which is a list of games for the next 5 days, to include both the 60+ and 70+ leagues. You will find the teams that are playing, the time of the game, and the field the game is being played on. Once the day passes, the list of games that are displayed will change accordingly.
o You can also see the schedule for the entire league, or just your team, by clicking on the Schedules tab. Select the age bracket (60+ or 70+), then select All Teams for the entire league. Scroll down as appropriate to look for a specific game. To see the games for your team only, change the selection from All Teams to your team. On these pages, you will also see the results of prior games, the status (won/lost, cancelled, and TBP = to be played), and the umpires assigned to the games.
o You can also get to your team’s schedule by clicking on the Teams & Rosters tab, then clicking on Full Schedule.
o Note: there is a glitch with LeagueLineup when using the Schedules tab. If you click on it, and there are no games displayed, change the dropdown to any other team, and it should work, then you can go back to All Teams if that’s what you are looking to do.
- My game was cancelled. When will it be made up?
o Games that are cancelled will be made up, if possible, and posted to the website once a suitable date is available for both teams. An announcement will be on the homepage, and the managers will be notified.
o There are times when the webmaster has to move previously scheduled games to a different time or field in order to accommodate the makeup game. Ex: a doubleheader scheduled for 9:00 and 10:30 may need to move to 10:30 and 12:00 so that a makeup game can be added at 9 AM. We try to avoid single games at noon time so that players are not inconvenienced.
o On the schedule page for the league or the individual teams, you will see a small info icon on the far left of any game that has a comment. If you click on the icon, you will see the comment. Ex: Makeup game from 5/22.
- Where are the standings?
o Click on the Results tab, then Standings, which are sorted by winning percentage. We opened up the possibility of tie games, which can be confusing, but it will sort itself out at the end. On the Standing page, you will also see how many runs each team has scored (RF column), and how many runs against (RA column). Everyone makes the playoffs!
- Where can I find the rosters for each team?
o Click on Teams & Rosters, then Teams/Rosters. Choose the age group (2024 – NSS 60+, or 2024 NSS 70+), then the name of the team you want to look at. On the team page, you will see the name and phone # of the manager, the team’s current record, their next game, the name of the sponsor, then the roster, sorted alphabetically by last name.
o Click on any name to view the player profile. You will see a small photo of the player, their batting/throwing preference, the position they typically play, their date of birth and current age, and their contact information.
- Who leads the league in HRs?
o Click on the Results tab, then 2024 HR Leaders. Anyone who hits a HR will be listed here.
o You can also find other stat categories there:
- Where can I find the weekly newsletters?
o Go to the Pages tab on the homepage, and click on Newsletters. Here you will find the newsletters that Greg Gougian does each week. Typically, these are posted late Friday or sometime Saturday.
- Where can I find the weekly updates of the players stats?
o Go to the Pages tab on the homepage, and click on NSS – Weekly Stats Updates. Here you will find the stats that Bob Lamontagne does each week. Typically, these are posted late Friday or sometime Saturday.
o You can find the following under the Pages tab:
- Where are the rules for the 60+ and 70+ leagues?
o Go to the Forms tab, and click on Rules and Player Forms. You can find the rules and many other forms there.
o
- I’m an umpire. Where can I find a list of the games I’m assigned to?
o Go to the Schedules tab, and click on Officials. Use the dropdown next to “Select Official” to find your name to display the date and location of your upcoming assignments.
o You can also look in the far right column of the Schedules page for all the teams. The umpires are listed there.
- Where are the photos from prior years?
o Go to the About tab, and click on Photo Albums. There are dozens of photo albums, sorted by year and month, including playoffs, team photos, Cape Classic teams, as well as 70+ league photos sorted by year. Click on the album you want to look at, and a thumbnail of each photo in the album will display. To see a photo in full size, click on it. To advance to the next photo, click on the small arrow at the top of the photo.
o Note that all photos going back to 2018 have a caption. If you see a photo without a caption from 2017 or prior, and can provide information for a photo, please send the information to jackgilhooly@comcast.net
- Is there a list of all the team managers and the executive board?
o Click on the About tab, then click on Contact Info. From there you can get the phone number of the person you’re looking to reach, or you can click on the Contact icon on the far right if you’d like to send an email. Click on the View Profile button to see a photo of each contact person.
- Who are the sponsors, and how do I get in touch with them?
o Click on the About tab, then click on Sponsors. Listed is the sponsor name, address, phone number, and links to their website, and/or their email address, if applicable.
o At the bottom of every page on the website, a business card of all the sponsors will scroll through continuously, changing every 5 seconds or so. On the team pages, only that team’s sponsor’s business card will display.
- What else can I look at?
o The website has a Calendar that can be accessed by clicking on Schedules, then Calendar. All of the scheduled games can be viewed there. Games that have been completed will display the score. Player’s birthdays are also present on the calendar, under the date.
o You can also look at random links to other websites under the About tab. Click on About, then Links. Currently the links are as show below, but if anyone wants a link to be added, please submit a request to the webmaster for approval.
- What’s under each tab on the website?
o Welcome tab = Homepage, which will usually include recent scores, headlines, game photos, previous year’s championship teams, makeup games, upcoming birthdays, and upcoming games.
§ Note the ticker under the tabs bar that scrolls the scores from the most recent games.
o About tab = Photo Albums, Contact Info, Links, Sponsors
o Teams & Rosters tab = Divisions/Leagues, Teams/Rosters
o Schedules tab = Schedules, Calendar, Officials, Directions
o Results tab = Game Results, Standings, 2024 HR Leaders
o Forms tab = Rules & Player Forms
o Pages tab = Newsletters, NSS – Weekly Stats Updates, 2023 Regular Season Stats, 2023 Playoff Stats, NSS History (thru 2023)
