Just a heads up on the Dinos 65s championship in the Connecticut Masters Games senior softball tournament on June 24-25. The team is made up of mostly players from the Nashua Senior Softball League, and others that either played in Nashua in the past, or from our indoor winter league.
The Dinos 65 team is rated AAA by the SSUSA, and they were the only 65s entry in the tournament, so they were added to the 70s AAA division, which means the Dinos had to give 5 runs to their opponent in every game. Had they been put in the group with the Majors teams as they had hoped, they would have been getting 5 runs per game, but would have played much better competition.
The following information is provided by coach Bill Simmons and ace scorekeeper for the tournament Jeff Porter:
Here are the scores from the games:
o Dinos 25…Hudson Valley Cyclones(13+5=18)
o Dinos batted 5 innings, scored 5-5-5-5-5
o Dinos 17...Syracuse Cyclones (6+4=10)
o Dinos 15...Hudson Valley Cyclones (9+5=14)
o Dinos 19...Jersey Boys (2+5=7)
The Dinos batted in 21 innings in the 4 games, and scored 5 runs 15 times!
