9/22/24 - FULTON FLASH XC CLASSIC RESULTS

We avoided a downpour or crazy storms on Sunday somehow despite how things were looking going into the weekend.  Instead, we had a rather humid day, with some parts of the course under water and / or rather muddy.  But, it is the same surface for everyone and you just have to adjust and be careful sometimes week to week.  You did also compete on a course that hosted a middle school and high school meet the day prior.  So, the surface was beaten down in some parts too.  The new feature of not finishing on the track and keeping the course all natural was an added difficulty as there was another uphill added.

Great job hosting by the Flash.  For those of you that didn't know, the Fulton Flash club is one of the original 6 CMAC founding clubs (along with Hallsville Trailblazers, CTC Colts, Blue Thunder, and 2 defunct clubs Boonville Flyers & Ashland Eagles).  The meet flowed rather well, and you could tell people were having to get used to that extra Kilometer per race.  Considering the first youth race started around 2:05, with the amount of races we had and when we finished... things went rather smoothly. Also, hopefully plenty of you got to enjoy the Joe's Coffee, Kona Ice, and the refreshments offered by the Super Sam fundraiser as well! Congrats again to Fulton Flash on a job well done.

Next we have the Holts Summit Heat XC Scorcher.  This will be their first time hosting, and we are certain they will do a great job.  This meet will be only the 2nd CMAC meet hosted in Jefferson City, so, we are looking forward to it.  Sounds like the course will be super flat compared to what you just experienced in Fulton.  So, your times should drop between the difficulty, the experience you've gained already, and likely not running in mud!  Click here for the meet information packet, and the deadline to register is by Wednesday evening.  Your coaches already have this information, and should be getting all of those interested in.  If you know people down near the JC area with kids of age that may enjoy this event, they can certainly walk up and register!  We want many young energetic youth to experience what we have to offer.  Also, don't forget that there is another adult 2K to start the day.  It was fun watching the adults get after it in Fulton.  Please continue to participate, those donations really help with the national trip for the All-Stars.

Putting it out there one more time, in our rules it is not allowed to run alongside the athletes that are competing.  This was witnessed some on the finish camera.  It doesn't matter how late in a race a young athlete is finishing compared to others, or that it is in the final stretch, parents, coaches, spectators and other athletes cannot run alongside a competitor.  This is an unfair advantage.  What CMAC doesn't want to do is disqualify, but it has happened before, and will happen again if this is noticed.  So, just meet your athletes from point to point along the course to encourage them, but otherwise going alongside is counted as assistance.  Let's avoid that totally.  Head Coaches of CMAC teams, you are considered officials... your first responsibility is to educate your teams and families about this.  But, at meets, another responsibility of yours is to fairly report if you see violations to CMAC to keep things fair for everyone.

A great season so far, and thanks for what felt like a very fun environment in Fulton thanks to you all.  We are rather eager to see the improvement from meet #1 to meet #2.  Don't forget, those STAR standings are on the line.  If you didn't finish where you wanted in Fulton, you have a chance to make a big jump this Saturday in Jeff City.  We'll release those standings after the meet this weekend.
