Rails' Soderberg Hurls No-Hitter
 
DULUTH -- Proctor socked Cotton 20-1 on Chet Soderberg's no-hitter Wednesday in the District 26 high school baseball tournament at Wade Municipal Stadium.
 
Soderberg's no-hitter stopped Cotton, the South County champ, with but one run, and that was in the first inning on four walks. Soderberg walked six Cotton players as the losers left eight runners stranded.
 
Don Hanson belted a home run to the base of the center field flagpole with one on in the seventh. Soderberg helped his own cause with four hits. (Duluth News Tribune, May 21, 1964)

...Proctor clobbered Two Harbors 11-0 in Big 10 Conference baseball action Tuesday...
 
At Proctor, George Herbranson threw five innings of no-hit ball before the game was called because of the 10-run rule.
 
The Rails scored their 11th run in the bottom of the fourth on a grand slam homer by Milan Arfsten.

 Proctor 3, Hermantown 0
 
Lefty Mike Grover struck out the first 10 batters he faced and mowed down 15 for the game with a no-hit performance to boost Proctor over Hermantown 3-0 in Lake Superior Conference baseball Thursday.
 
Jay Nelson drove in a pair of runs with two doubles and John Baublitz also had two RBI with two singles. Grover, who walked three, also drove in a run.
 
Proctor, 2-2, got all three runs off loser Tim Hall, who was relieved by Roger Olson in the fifth inning.

Proctor takes LSC title with Norton's no-hitter
 
CLOQUET -- Proctor clinched the Lake Superior Conference title with a 11-1 victory over Two Harbors in six innings at Cloquet Tuesday.
 
Dan Norton pitched a no-hitter for the Rails, striking out 12 batters. Karl Strom started the game for the Agates, combining with Curt Wilson, on in relief with no outs in the first, to give up nine hits.
 
Bill Richardson's two-run double in the third inning led the hitting for Proctor. Scott Pionk had a single and a double and scored twice.
 
Tuesday's win was the Rails' ninth straight, after a season-opener loss to Elk River, for a 9-1 overall record, and an 8-0 mark in the LSC. Proctor has one conference game remaining, against Morgan Park, but even a loss in that game will leave the Rails with the No. 1 conference ranking. (Duluth News Tribune, May 14, 1980)

No-hitter by Malec leads Rails
 
CLOQUET -- Proctor's Jason Malec stopped Central on a no-hitter and struck out 12 as the Rails advanced to the Sub-Region 2 championship game with a 2-0 victory here Tuesday.
 
Proctor will meet Cloquet at 7 p.m. Friday for a berth in the Region 7AA tournament in Grand Rapids Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
 
Malec allowed only four base runners, two via walks. No Central runner reached second base in the seven-inning game.
 
Proctor, which only had three hits, broke up a scoreless game in the fifth. John Kuzas got a single off Central starter Reed Kolquist, was bunted to second on Dave Lockwood's sacrifice and went to third on an infield error. He scored on a wild pitch.
 
Kolquist allowed only two hits through 4 1/3 innings while walking three and striking out five. Keith Shaw came on in the fifth, allowing only (Chuck) Flynn's triple in the sixth. (Duluth News Tribune, May 21, 1980)

Proctor's Norton throws no-hitter, whips Virginia
 
VIRGINIA -- Dan Norton pitched a no-hitter as Proctor blanked Virginia 14-0 in a five-inning game here Friday. It was the Rails' third shutout of the season.
 
Scott Pionk, 3-for-4 in the game, and Chuck Flynn each doubled in a pair of runs in the second inning and the Rails built a comfortable lead with four more the next inning.
 
Norton, a senior, struck out 10 in his second shutout this year.

Proctor dumps Central on Peterson no-hitter
 
Senior Nik Peterson hurled a no-hitter for his third straight win as Proctor blanked Central 5-0 in high school baseball Friday at Wade Stadium.
 
The Rails went ahead 3-0 in the first inning on singles by Scott Pionk, Matt Downs and Chuck Flynn.
 
Peterson struck out 10 for Proctor's eighth win against two losses. The Rails have held opponents to four hits and three runs in their last five outings.
 
Central hurler Keith Shaw took the loss despite throwing a four-hitter. (Duluth News Tribune, May 9, 1981)

Proctor's Nylund throws no-hitter
 
SILVER BAY -- Chris Nylund tossed a no-hitter and struck out 10 Tuesday as Proctor shut out Silver Bay 4-0 in a Lake Superior Conference high school baseball game.
