The East Boston Knights season debut in their 3rd season of the Yawkey League started out with a bang as they crushed the expansion Forest Hills Force yesterday at McConnell Park in Dorchester.
The Force kept it close till the 4th when Force pitcher Alexander Alcantara stuggled with control problems. The Knights took advantage with timely hitting as Knights rookie Wilson Mercado led all Knights with 2 hits, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Moises Maza also chipped in with 2 hits of his own. Knights starter Branden Eaton cruised in this one striking out 6 in 5 innings for the complete game victory.

Game 2: East Boston Knights @ Al Thomas A's 5/19/12
The Eastie Knights looked to stay undefeated in the young season against a strong Al Thomas A's squad who had a strong campaign this season. Strong pitching by Dan Gaughan and solid defense by the A's contributed to the shutout.
Dan Gaughan tossed 6 innings of 3-hit shutout ball as the A's beat East Boston 7-0. Nick Malatos threw a 1-2-3 7th inning in his Al Thomas debut. Knights pitching allowed just three earned runs
but shaky defense in which the Knights committed two errors led to four unearned runs as Knights fall to .500 for the season.

Game 3: McKay Club @ East Boston Knights 5/21/12
On a foggy damp evening in downtown East Boston the Knights welcomed the Beacons to EB Stadium to square off in the first game of three between these new division rivals. The Knights outlasted the Beacons in a match up between a young Sean Hannon and the gritty veteran John Nee. The Knights scored a run in the second inning on a high fly ball to left field that got lost in the fog by Ben McBide, which ended up a triple, and scored on a broken bat single by Wilson Mercado to take a one run lead. That broken bat would come back to haunt the Knights and Mercado as he ended up getting ejected using a composite bat he found in the team bag in the 4th inning. The Knights scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th taking advantage of walks and an RBI single by Maza. Hannon was the story in this one capping it off by striking out Drew Tambling for the 4th time of the night with the bases loaded and the tying run on second base to end the game.

Game 4: East Boston Knights @ South End Astros 5/29/12
On a night where thunderstorms are
in the forecast for the Boston area, the Knights had a tough night in South End resident and assistant coach/bench coach Soohoo's neck of the woods as the Astros matched their win total from last
year with a 7-2 win.
Astros lit up
starter Brett Smith as he also lasted two innings. Knights struggled against Astro starter Steve Melo and only muster two runs while the South End defense was solid throwing two runners out. Jared Kenney, making his YBL Knights debut had a solid mop-up
overall striking out six going four innings.
Game ended when mother nature decided to open the skies up with a deluge and handful of lightning strikes over the field before the Knights attempt any comeback attempt in the seventh. Knights fall to 2-2 while the Astros go to 4-1

Game 5: Stoneham Sabres @ East Boston Knights 5/30/12
The same weather system that brought heavy thunderstorms over the Boston area
the night before left the East Coast and the skies cleared up the whole day that Mother Nature allowed us to play baseball. The East Boston Knights looking to bounce back after a sucky night at the Roxbury (where Jim Rice Field is located, technically South End/Roxbury line) face the Stoneham Sabres at Breed Field in Lynn. Eastie scored runs in the first 4 innings to take a 5 - 0 lead and that would prove to be enough for newcomer Steve Hueston. Hueston did not disappoint the Knights in his first start scattering 4 hits and only allowing one Sabre to reach second base all evening. The Knights plated 4 more runs in the 6th inning to take a 9 - 0 lead and in the 7th inning with a runner on first Hueston induced an inning ending double play turned by Jose Paulino and Anthony Ortiz to seal the game. Offensively for the Knights Jose Paulino led the team with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Ben McBride and Anthony Ortiz also had 2 RBI's a piece.
