CENTRAL VIRGINIA ASA COMMISSIONER H. FRANKLIN TAYLOR HAS RESIGNED EFFECTIVE
JAN 1, 2004 AFTER 35 YEARS AS COMMISSIONER.
A NEW COMMISSIONER WILL BE APPOINTED IN EARLY JANUARY.
NEW RULE FOR ASA MENS AND WOMENS PLAY: START RECRUITING YOU WILL NOW HAVE TO
HAVE A CATCHER WHO CAN CATCH AND THROW. WE NOW HAVE STEALING IN SLOW-PITCH
SOFTBALL. A BASE-RUNNER WILL NOW BE ABLE TO STEAL A BASE AFTER THE BALL
CROSSES HOME PLATE.
THE OTHER ORGANIZATIONS HAVE THIS RULE. IT IS TIME TO MAKE THE GAME MORE
EXCITING. THE CATCHER WILL NOW BE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE GAME. THIS WILL
ALSO SPEED THE GAME UP, MAJOR AND CLASS A HAVE HAD THIS FOR THREE YEARS SO
NOW ALL CLASSES WILL HAVE THIS RULE.
THERE WILL BE MORE BATS ADDED TO THE LIST OF BANNED BATS, I
RECOMMEND NOT BUYING ONE UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF MARCH.
