May 14, 2006
Last year the 2005 North Coast athletics were 2nd in Northern California in USSA points and 32nd in the nation. the team was 3-3 in their age division and competed with only three 16 year old players on the roster in a 16 and under age bracket. This year, 12 players return: Everett James, Tony Melia, Steven Young, cody Raudio, Anthonly Ruano, Al Huerta, Derek Shea, Richard Tamborini, Elliot Hee, Matt Freitas, Alex Lemmon, and Ryan stevens. Abraham Vargas will join the team at 16 years old, as a catcher.

Seven players will practice with the team as practice players, preparing for next season and possibly bein activated for games if any of the original thirteen players are unable to play. Tyler Vichi, Eli Duran, Tomas Sanchez, Antonio Renteria, Anthony Caito, Cuko Huerta, and Chris Braga will help keep the Athletics program going.

Manager Mike James and coaches Mike pollard, Bud Melia, Wes Hee, John Baumeister, and robert Valador are looking forward to coaching this year and realize what a special opportunity this is for these kids to learn, grow, and have fun at such a high level of competition. Last year in 2005, the support was so great it created a USSSA World Series qualifying team in its first year of existence. In 2006, the North Coast Athletics will compete in the World Series and will need a lot of support to make the dream happen.
