GAME #4
Titans 9 Athletics 0 (5 innings)
Steven Young would take the mound and shut the Titans out for 2 innings. A 9 run 3rd inning made possible by a couple of unfortunate calls early in the inning which turned into a long 3rd which finally ended with one pitch form Matt Freitas. The Athletics settled down making some great plays on defense, but could not get the ball to fall against a stingy Titan defense. Matt Freitas would pitch 2 scoreless innings, walking 2 and allowing 2 hits.
Stats:
Al Huerta: 1x2
Ryan Stevens: 1x2

- Matt Pollock took a no-hitter into the seventh inning to lead the Marin Tribe, a 16-and-under travel team, to a 3-2 win over the North Coast Athletics in the semifinals of the USSSA/Miken State Championship. Kellen Porter doubled twice and Logan Edwards
had a clutch pinch-hit RBI. The Tribe fell to the Tri-Valley Titans in the final.
GAME #5
Tribe 3 Athletics 2
After an exhausting morning, the Athletics would have to find some energy as the Tribe led off the game with a double off of pitcher Anthony Ruano, who was called upon to battle the Tribe once again due to the shortage of available pitching. Ruano would settle down, and the defense would help keep the game close until the 5th inning.
With one out in the 5th, a double, error, and a hit batter, gave the Tribe a 3-0 lead.
Eli Duran would relieve Ruano and would shut the Tribe down with an unassisted double play from Elliot Hee, runners thrown out at 2nd and 3rd base (on a slow curve) by Abraham Vargas, as well as other great efforts from the battle tested Athletics.
Matt Freitas and Tony Melia would walk, setting up a 2 RBI double blasted by Richard Tamborini: 3-2 Tribe. The game-tying hit in the bottom of the 7th inning would be fielded, ending the Athletics hard working battle.
Stats:
Richard Tamborini: 1x3, 2B, 2RBI’s
There was a lot of positive things to learn from this tournament. It takes very strong players to play 4-5 games in 2 days, and I believe we will get stronger.
Mike James, Manager
Our home tournament is to be held this weekend at Fort Bragg and Mendocino High Schools, pending team applications.
