About the League

The Arlington Women’s Soccer League (AWSL) is a voluntary organization in Arlington, VA that provides an opportunity for women to play soccer for recreation, increase their fitness and soccer skills, and enjoy team sports through competitive play.  AWSL is divided into two divisions: Open and Masters.

Open Division: Women 18 years older and up may play in the Open Division, which may be divided into Upper and Lower level teams or may include a Middle level as well. The Open Division games are generally played on Sunday mornings between 8:30 am and 2:00 pm. Occasionally there are Sunday evening games.

Master’s Division: Women who will be over the age of 30 during the calendar year may play in the Master’s division in either the Upper or Middle Bracket.  The Master’s Division generally plays on Monday evenings between 7:00 and 11:00 pm. Occasionally other week night games may be scheduled.

Master's, Over 40's Bracket: Players who are over the age of 40 (or currently grandfathered onto their team) may play in the Master's Over 40 Lower Bracket.  The Master’s Division generally plays on Monday evenings between 7:00 and 11:00 pm. Occasionally other week night games may be scheduled.

Players Looking for Teams

If you are interested in joining the league, please email the following info to awslnewplayer@gmail.com: your name, the division desired, skill level and whether you live or work in Arlington, Virginia to qualify for Arlington County residency.  The greatest opportunities for players are as teams form in the month leading up to the Spring and Fall seasons; however, teams periodically need players during the season as well.

AWSL Seasons
AWSL offers both a Spring and Fall Season consisting of approximately 8 games.

Team registration deadline for the Spring Season is in February/March with the season running April-June.

Team Registration for the Fall season is mid-July with games played September - November.

All players must sign an AWSL registration and waiver/consent form prior to playing any AWSL games. As of Fall 2019, registration is online through Formsite.  The AWSL By-Laws provide detailed information on league rules and eligibility requirements. Fees are determined at the beginning of each season and are due at the time of registration.

Summer Season may also be held depending on team interest and field space. Summer Season runs July and August with two 1 hour games per week.  Game days will vary.
