LEAGUE FOLDS AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS

The Chautauqua Babe Ruth League had been in existence since 1972 and afforded the opportunity for hundreds of young baseball players to develop skills, sportsmanship, and a love for the world's greatest game, baseball. This league wass comprised of players, age 13-15, from Brocton, Westfield, Mayville, Ripley, Sherman, Clymer and Panama. These are all small communities of Western New York.

Due to a diminishing number of youth interested in participating in a program that must compete for their time with other organizations, Chautauqua Babe Ruth  is unable to maintain any kind of stable league.  Considering the high financing required to support a league we have decided it is not feasible to continue our league for the foreseeable future.
