Team Movie Night
We will be having team movie night on Monday, March 12 from 6-8pm in the gym. The movie will be Unguarded. It's an ESPN documentary about a local "can't miss" basketball superstar whose career and life was derailed due to drug addiction. The movie was recently shown in my granddaughters 8th grade health class in Peabody. Chris Herren now speaks to middle and high school students across the country. The movie lasts about an hour and will be followed with a short discussion period. Parents are welcome to attend. I truly believe that the documentary provides an interesting, relevant and valuable message. Please let me know by email if your son will or won't be able to attend. Members of the girls team will also be invited to attend. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Cheverus Boys Basketball Support Project Purple
The 7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball team will be showing their support of Project Purple by wearing purple laces on their sneakers this year. Former Boston Celtic, Chris Herren launched Project Purple to bring awareness to the dangers of substance abuse. Danny Ainge Drops In To Cardinal Scrimmage
Christmas came early for the Cheverus Cardinals as the boys were treated to a once in a lifetime opportunity when Danny Ainge dropped by the gym to watch his son play in a scheduled scrimmage with Coach Benzan's brother's team from Wellesley. When the referee's got tied up in holiday traffic, Ainge borrowed a whistle and officiated nearly the first half of the game.
While it was a somewhat lopsided contest, the boys seemed thrilled just to show their stuff to the President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics. After the boys settled in from some first quarter jitters, much offensive and defensive progress seems to have been made. We look forward to a successful second half.
Merry Christmas.
Coach Charlie
