SUNFLOWER SEEDS ARE PROHIBITED IN BOYS OF SUMMER BASEBALL ON ALL FIELDS
Sunflower seeds are prohibited immediately from all Boys of Summer events, including games, tournaments, showcases and practices. This rule was made effective on Tuesday, August 9 and will be enforced at all fields, including grass, dirt and synthetic turf. There are no exceptions to this rule moving forward.
Due to the ongoing struggle with keeping our venues clean and our permits in order, we have no choice but to have a zero tolerance policy. We have had four coaches suspended in the past two weeks and two field permits withdrawn and another in jeopardy of being pulled.
Any coach with seeds will be immediately ejected from the field and face suspension from further participation. Any player with seeds will be immediately ejected along with the head coach and both will serve a suspension. A second infraction by the same team will carry an immediate termination from league play. Coaches should check all players before an event begins and make sure they are following the rules. Umpires will not issue warnings, they are charged with enforcing the rule only.

TIME LIMITS
Due to the outpouring of concern about the imposed time limits and the break in between games where umpires need to get changed we are revising our time limit rules. Please carry this note to your games so there are no issues with the new rules.
There will be a 1:50 time limit on all Boys of Summer games and no new inning may begin after 1:50.
Please note that the time limit begins at the ground rules meeting. The umpire should then notify both teams of the start time which should be written down by the managers.
Regular season games in the summer and fall that go four full innings are now official. We've had a few guys working the clock to avoid a loss - please always play with integrity.
There is an hour and fifty (1:50) time limit for all playoff games until the Championship which has no time limit. All playoff games tied after the time limit or 7 innings of play will enter a California tie breaker. Each team puts the batter who is scheduled to bat last in that respective half of the inning on second base and plays out a full inning.
BASES, HELMETS, AND PROPER ATTIRE
ATTENTION ALL MANAGERS AND COACHES
BASES
All teams must have a set of bases for each game. Some fields accommodate us with bases but others do not so please remember to bring them to all fields. Town of Brookhaven fields are an example of fields that do not supply bases but there are others as well and teams must have a their own set of bases.
COACHING HELMETS
See Rule 18 under Boys of Summer rules.
COACHING ATTIRE
All coaches must be properly dressed for games. A coaches shirt, team jersey or pullover is acceptable. Coaches shorts or baseball pants are also acceptable. NO denim or cutoff shorts, slacks, work pants, capris, skirts, work boots or dress shoes can be worn while coaching the bases. This also should never be an issue to be dealt with at the field.
NASSAU COUNTY PARKS -- IMPORTANT INFORMATION!
If you are playing games at any of the Nassau County Parks, Wantagh, Eisenhower, Cantiague and Bay, there is a $10 parking fee imposed by Nassau County for all non-residents. This has nothing to do with Boys of Summer. This is has been in effect for the past two years at all of these venues during tournaments and league play so please be advised that there is a fee for all non-residents. Thank you for your cooperation.
