Dear parents,

 

There are organizational changes at NCYS going into effect this spring.  NCYS will be joining Cherokee Youth Softball (CYS) which is ran by the Cherokee Parks and Recreation Agency (CPRA). The spring season will be a transition for everyone. The following list highlights some of the changes and/or plans for the upcoming 2018 spring season. CPRA’s goal is to offer the best softball program possible for the girls of Cherokee County. As the transition takes place, there will be lessons learned and more changes to come in future seasons. Please remain patient and optimistic as the county’s softball programs and our girls opportunities grow!

 

  • CYS will offer softball at 2 parks, Weatherby and Twin Creeks

  • You can sign up based on which park you would prefer to be your “home field”

  • Week day practices and week day games will be held at your home field if there are enough girls / teams in your age group

  • Saturday games will be held at Twin Creeks

  • Age groups are 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 16U

  • Age groups are determined based on the players age as of January 1, 2018.

  • If Weatherby Park does not have enough girls for a specific age group, those girls will have the choice of playing out of Twin Creeks

  • Uniforms will be provided by CPRA and are included in your registration fees. Samples will be available for sizing at player assessments.



Registration Information and Spring Dates

The following dates and options have been scheduled for registration. Please note that registration ends February 2nd..

 

 

  • In person sign ups will be held at the following locations and dates:

    • Saturday, January 20th from 10am to 1pm at Weatherby Park

    • Saturday, January 27th from 10am to 1pm at Weatherby Park

    • Friday, February 2nd from 5pm - 8p at Dick’s Sporting Goods

 

  • Player assessments will be held Saturday, February 3rd. Specific times for Weatherby Park registrants will be announced soon. Any player not at assessments will be assigned to a team as a hat pick.

 

Volunteer Coaches

Anyone interested in coaching must complete a coaching application.  Anyone approved for coaching will be asked to complete a background check. The cost is $15 and must be paid by the applicant.
