SOUTHRIDGE JBO
- JBO (Junior Baseball Organization) was created in Oregon over 70 years ago to group players into teams representing the High Schools they will attend
- Teams are first grouped by age/grade level, then skill level:
- Federal: highest competitive level of JBO
- American: competitive baseball with added emphasis on skill development
- National: semi-competitive, largly focused on skill development
- Players with comparable skills are placed on teams together so they will receive more playing time and exposure to positions and game situations they might not otherwise experience
- We are a direct feeder program for Southridge HS with Skyhawk coaches providing instruction and supervision to our players and program coaches
- Our teams play against other metro-area JBO feeder programs: Aloha, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Sunset, ect.
- Teams have a 50/50 balance between games & practice/development (2 x games & 2 x practices per week)
- League games are either on a Mon/Wed or Tue/Thur schedule with no weekend league games
- JBO plays using High School rules
- Currently, Southridge offers teams at the "Senior" level: mostly 7th and 8th graders or those who are older than 12 and ineligible for Little League
- JBO fields grow as the players mature, providing the framework to smoothly transition to a full size field
- K-4th Graders = 45' mound / 60' bases
- 5-6th Graders = 50' mound / 70' bases
- 7-8th Graders = 60' mound / 90 bases
- Post season:
- All teams at every age level and skill level with a .500 or better record are able to compete @ JBO Districts
- The top 3 teams from each District are able to compete in the Oregon JBO Championship Tournament
