Sunrise Y1 comes into the game ranked #23 on GotSoccer.com and #35 on YouthSoccerRankings.com for ave of #29

AC Delray comes in as 0.42 Goal Favorite

On Sunday March 8, 2020 AC Delray 2006 Vapors traveled so Sunrise, Florida to take on the Sunrise Prime FC 2006 Y1 girls squad.  This would be the 2nd time the teams have met in FSPL play this season with Delray winning 7-1 in the first matchup.   This time things would be very different.  Sunrise would use a physical stifling defense to keep the potent Delray attack off balance all game.  Sunrise would add a goal from Sara Munoz late in the first half to take the 1-0 lead into halftime.  Sunrise would come out of halftime playing great and would add a goal from Sam Westergren to take the commanding 2-0 lead.  Morgan Goldman would add another one in the 51st minute to put the game away for good.  Delray who scored 7 goals the last game including 6 from #21 could not get anything going offensively and was denied many scoring opportunities.   This might have been the best game Sunrise has played in quite some time.  The Defense was excellent and the Offense dominated possession and took advantage of the scoring opportunities.   With the win Sunrise moves to 5-7-4 in its first season of FSPL play while Delray falls to 6-7-2.  Sunrise improves to 18-16-7 for the entire 2019-2020 season.

Cape Coral is a 3.08 Goal Favorite in this match-up

On Saturday March 7, 2020 Sunrise Prime FC 2006 Y1 traveled to Cape Coral to take on the #2 ranked and defending state champions Cape Coral Cyclones Black squad.  Cape Coral has destroyed the FSPL competition so far this season and is undefeated 13-0-0 coming into the contest.  This would be a tough test, but Sunrise was up to the challange.

Sunrise would shock the crowd and take the early 1-0 lead when Morgan Goldman put away the goal off the nice assist from Sam Westergren, helped out by a nice run by Isabella Rychel.

Cape Coral would tie things up with a beautiful free kick that found the back of the net, and then took the lead for good with another long range kick that made it in just past the goalie.   They would add on another just before halftime for a commanding 3-1 lead.

Sunrise could not get the offense going in the 2nd half, while Cape Coral added 1 more for the 4-1 final result.

Despite the score, Sunrise played very well and proved they will not stop fighting against any odds.   Very proud of the girls today!!

Lee County is a 0.06 Goal Favorite in this match-up

On Saturday February 29, 2020 Sunrise Prime traveled to Plant City to take on the Lee County Strikers in an Florida State Premier League match-up.  This was the 3rd overall matchup this season and 2nd matchup in 2 weeks for these teams after earlier meeting in the finals of the Weston Cup.  The teams would tie 2-2 early in the season and Sunrise would go onto win the Weston Cup matchup in an OT shootout for the 2-1 victory.   This time things would be different.  Although they played hard, the shorthanded Sunrise team failed to get any consistent offense going and could not generate many scoring chances.  Lee County couldn't do much better against the Prime stifling defense, but was able to draw a questionable foul in the box in the 44th minute for a penalty kick.  Lee would go on to convert the penalty and would add on the decisive second goal just 5 minutes later when #19 would knock in the rebound off another amazing save from the Sunrise keeper.

With the loss Sunrise drops to 3-6-4 on the FSPL season and 16-15-7 overall for the 2019-2020 season....

On a rainy Friday February 21, 2020 Sunrise Prime FC '06 Y1 traveled to Palm Beach Gardens to take on the PBG Predators Elite in a Florida State Premier League match-up.  The teams have played before this season with every game being extremely close and coming down to who would make the fewest mistakes.

PBG would grab the lead first and looked to be on the way to the win with the way Sunrise offense was under performing.  However Morgan Goldman wanted none of that as late in the game she made a nice run down the right side forcing a corner kick.  Morgan would take the earned kick and proceed to drive it right into the box.  The ball would ricochet off someones face and would find the knee of defenseman Kamaya Williams for her 1st goal of the season, and more importantly the 1-1 tie.  Nice job battling back for the much needed point.

Sunrise Prime FC 2006 Y1 Girls and the Lee County Strikers 2006 Girls Black team faced off in the U14 Silver Finals of the 2020 Weston Cup Showcase. The game was a nail bitter as both teams displayed great defense and limited the number of good opportunities each offense could generate. This was a close game that would come down to who would a mistake. The first mistake was made in the 43rd Minute as the Lee County Goalie would pick up the ball right outside of the box, setting up a free kick. Isaballa Mendez would seize the opportunity and delivery a stunning kick into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

With the way the defense was playing, this seemed like a huge lead. However with about 6 min left, it was time for Sunrise to make its mistake. A questionable foul was called setting up Lee County with a free kick just outside the box. Just as Sunrise did, Lee took advantage of this gift and also smacked a ball into the back of the net tying the game up at 1-1. With the score tied at the end of regulation, the teams would go into the dreaded penalty kick shootout. Unfortunately after both teams played so hard, it would have to come down to this. Lee County loss the coin flip, and would shoot first.

On Sunday February 16th, 2020 Sunrise Prime FC 2006 Y1 would meet Parkland FC 2006 Red in game #3 of the 2020 Weston Cup U14 Silver Division. • Sunrise won earlier match up 1-0

On Saturday afternoon February 15, 2020 Sunrise would battle the Davie Sharks during a driving rainstorm in Game #2 of the 2020 Weston Cup & Showcase tournament.  The conditions would make this a very sloppy game with both teams struggling to connect passes on this muddy field.  Dave would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the 10th min and was looking like it would go into halftime with the lead.  However , Sunrise newcomer Isabella Rychel had different ideas... Rychel got the ball in the 29th minute and dribbled around numerous defenders and blasted a shot to the back of the net to tie the game up with seconds to go before the Half.

Davie would add another early 2nd half goal to take a 2-1 lead in the 34th minute.  Sunrise would have a couple of scoring chances late but ultimelty could not get the job done on this sloppy mud soaked field.

With the loss, both teams move to 1-1 heading into the crucial game #3.  Both teams will need wins and help to advance to the finals..

This was a big SFUYSA U14 Division 1 Match-up with possible playoff berths on the line as both teams needed a win. This game would count as 2 games in the standings so whoever would win will gain a big 6 points.

Sunrise would come out fast and strong with the wind at their backs, and scored early to take a 1-0 lead. That lead would last for 9 Min, as Wellington would come back to tie the score in the 18th min of the game. That score would hold until halftime as both teams missed several chances to add to the score line.

The 2nd half was a complete different story as Wellington seemed to dominate the possession and scoring opportunities while playing with the wind. They would add a goal in the 42nd min off a beautiful corner kick, that the wind guided right in, and would score again in the 44th min with a beautiful kick that the wind carried and just missed the tips of the goalies fingers for the save. The 3-1 score would hold for the rest of the game.

With the loss Sunrise Y1 falls to 6-5-1 and Wellington White moves to 8-3-1. Sunrise will finish the SFUYSA season in 6th place, while Wellington jumped to 3rd. Both teams will miss the playoffs, but their sister teams, Sunrise Prime FC Z1 and Wellington Wave Premier will advance to the championship game. Congrats to all the girls on a fun SFUYSA season!

Sunrise is 0.03 Goal Favorite..  This should be a close game....

On Saturday February 1, 2020 Sunrise Prime FC 2006 Y1 squad traveled to Ft. Lauderdale to take on the previously unbeaten FTLFC Team team.  Despite not having a loss this season, Sunrise came in as a narrow favorite.  Again the odds makers had it correct, as Sunrise would win a very feisty and competitive game 2-0.  The game was extremely close, as both teams had chances, but Sunrise would add a late goal in the 1st half, and a late goal in the 2nd half to secure the victory.

SFUYSA Game #7 - Sunrise Gets Revenge Against Boca in 6-1 Trouncing

January 12, 2020

Sunrise Prime FC '06 Y1     6  Image result for SFUYSA Logo  1     Team Boca '06 White  Image result for Team Boca

@35:18 - Halftime Show and Highlights

Sunrise Prime FC '06 Y1 came into the game ranked #27 in Gotsoccer.com and #44 in YouthSoccer.com for Ave Ranking of #35.5.

Team Boca 2006 White came into the game ranked 54# in Gotsoccer.com and #23 in YouthSoccerRankings.com for Ave Ranking of #38.5

Boca and Sunrise would meet for the 2nd time this Season, with Boca winning the earlier match-up 2-0.  This time Boca again was a 1.19 Goal Favorite however Sunrise would not be impressed.  Sunrise would jump out to an early goal in the opening minutes and cruise from there to a score of 6-1.  The 6 goals were the most for the club in a game since game #3 when they also put up 6 goals vs the Brazilian Panthers.   With Sunrise again shorthanded due to injuries, the '07 team would come to the rescue.  6 girls from the 2007 team were called up to help the 2006 Y1 squad, and they certainly paid off.  All 6 would play a big role in the game, and certainly made a big difference.

FSPL Game #10 Shorthanded Sunrise Plays Hard But Comes Up Short in 1-0 Loss

January 11, 2020

Sunrise Prime FC '06 Y1     0 Image result for FSPL Soccer Logo   1     Martin United '06 Girls Elite

.

Sunrise Prime FC '06 Y1 came into the game ranked #27 in Gotsoccer.com and #44 in YouthSoccer.com for Ave Ranking of #35.5.

Martin United 2006 Girls came into the game ranked 34# in Gotsoccer.com and #34 in YouthSoccerRankings.com for Ave Ranking of #34

Both teams are no strangers to one another as this is the 4th they have played so far this season, with Sunrise holding a 2-0-1.  This time however Martin United came into the game as a 0.34 goal favorite.   Again this would prove to be a solid prediction as Martin would go on to win 1-0.   Sunrise was playing shorthanded all game and only had 10 players available.  On top of that, Sunrise had 2 of the 10 players sick and were not 100%, so basically Sunrise played 8 v 11.  The Sunrise girls proved how tough they are as they battled toe to toe with Martin all game despite being undermanned and out gunned.

Despite the loss, Sunrise deserved to win the game as every girl played their hearts out.

If only we had some more players, imagine what might have been........

Sunrise looks to be back at full strength tomorrow vs Boca.

SFUYSA Game #6 - vs Florida Fire Juniors 1-1 Draw

January 4, 2020

Sunrise Prime FC '06 Y1 came into the game ranked #26 in Gotsoccer.com and #42 in YouthSoccer.com for Ave Ranking of #34.

Florida Fire Juniors '06 Premier  came into the game ranked 45# in Gotsoccer.com and #13 in YouthSoccerRankings.com for Ave Ranking of #29'

Florida Fire came into the match as a 2.01 goal favorite, but could not get anything going against a tough Sunrise Prime defense.   The game was a tight contest with both teams missing some opportunities early, however Sunrise would take the lead in the 46th min after a beautiful corner kick from Morgan Goldman found the foot of Sam Westergren for her 17th goal on the season.  The lead was short lived however as the Fire would strike quick and even things up just 2 minutes later.  Sunrise would go onto control the 4th quarter but could not connect enough passes to extinguish the Fire.  The Game would end in a 1-1 draw.  Sunrise is now 2-3-1 (7th place with 7 pts) in D1 play while the Fire still remaining above at 2-1-2 (6th place 8 pts)

SFUYSA Game #5 - Battle of Sunrise Y1 vs Z1

December 14, 2019

Sunrise Prime FC '06 Y1     0  Image result for SFUYSA Logo  1     Sunrise Prime FC '06 Z1

THE BATTLE FOR SUNRISE!

Sunrise Prime Z1 came into the game ranked #27 in Gotsoccer.com and #26 in YouthSoccer.com for Ave Ranking of #26.

Sunrise Prime came into the game ranked 45# in Gotsoccer.com and #40 in YouthSoccerRankings.com for Ave Ranking of #42.5

Sunrise Z1 came into the match as a 0.79 goal favorite, and this proved to be prophetic as they indeed won the game 1-0.  Although Y1 dominated time of possession and had better passing results, again they had a hard time generating any offense or quality shots on net.  Z1 although outplayed scored on a lucky bounce that deflected right in front of the goalie and bounced into the net.  Z1 didnt have many shots on goal, but this one was the one that counted and made for the difference.  With the win Sunrise Z1 moves to 3-2 in SFUYSA play while Sunrise Y1 falls to 2-3.

  • Sunrise Z1 is now 5-6-1 overall on the 2019-2020 season
  • Sunrise Y1 is now 9-10-5 overall on the 2019-2020 season

SFUYSA Game #4 - Sunrise Wipes Up Weston in 2-0 Victory

December 8, 2019

Weston came into the game ranked #85 in Gotsoccer.com and #79 in YouthSoccer.com for Ave Ranking of #82

Sunrise Prime came into the game ranked 44# in Gotsoccer.com and #40 in YouthSoccerRankings.com for Ave Ranking of #42

Sunrise came into the match as a 1.54 goal favorite and won 2-0.  Sunrise struggled again to put the ball in the  back of the net as they blew many chances to score.  They will need to fix this quickly if they plan on going far this season...  The good news is the Midfield played well and again the defense was steller in collecting the clean sheet.

With the win Sunrise moves to 2-2 in SFUYSA play while Weston falls to 0-5.  Overall Sunrise is now 9-9-5 for the entire 2019-2020 season.
