Valid state or military IDs or passport will be required going forward! This is for football players and cheerleaders of all ages. Your child WILL NOT be able to participate without valid ID listed. Birth certificates WILL NOT be accepted going forward.
Don't forget... all players for football and/or cheer will need valid state ID, military ID, or passport in order to certify for the 2022 Spring season.
How to Apply for a Texas Identification Card
The Department issues identification cards that are valid for up to six years to Texas residents. To apply for an ID card, you will need to provide proof of the following:
- U.S. Citizenship or, if you are not a U.S. Citizen, evidence of lawful presence.
- Texas Residency
- Identity and
- Social Security Number
You may use our interactive REAL ID Document Check Application to assist in preparing you for your Driver License Office Visit. Just follow the steps, and at the end, you will have a customized checklist of the documents to bring for your visit.
Once you have gathered the necessary documents, you will need to do the following:
- Complete the identification card application before arriving at your local office (This form is also available at all driver license offices).
- Make an appointment at a driver license office.
- Provide the following documentation to the license and permit specialist:
- Application for the issuance of an identification card
- U.S. Citizenship or, if you are not a U.S. Citizen, evidence of lawful presence
- Texas Residency
- Identity, and
- Social Security Number
- Provide your thumbprints.
- Have your picture taken.
- Pay the application fee.
Once your identification card has been issued, you will receive a temporary identification card. Before leaving the driver license office, review the printed information on your temporary identification card for accuracy. If any of the information is not correct, notify the license and permit specialist. Your new card will arrive in the mail in approximately 4 – 6 weeks.
