HBT Mercy Rule Win vs. Mineola

It was the 2nd straight mercy rule win for the HBT team, this time winning 15-2 vs. Mineola after 5 innings. Gavin Korn started on the hill and had another dominant performance going the distance, allowing only 1 earned run, on 6 hits, 5 walks, and striking out 5. Korn at the plate reached base safely 3 times, scoring 2 runs. HBT offense exploded for 10 runs in the 1st inning on 6 hits, after sending up 15 batters in the inning. Ryan Steinberg and Max Fagin each had perfect days at the plate. Steinberg went 3 for 3 with 3 runs, 1 RBI, and 2 stolen bases. Fagin went 2 for 2 with 2 walks, 2 RBI's, 2 runs and 1 stolen base. Alex Ahn and Lance Levy each added 2 hits also. Fagin, Ahn, Andrew Zammit, Jacob Fogel, and Matt Mianulli all had 2 RBI's on the day. It was a great day for the HBT Braves as they improve to 2-2 on the season. Next game is Wednesday away vs. Wheatley at 4:45pm.

HBT Wins with Walk-off Mercy Rule vs. Herricks

It was a great 1st victory of the season for HBT on Friday, beating Herricks 11-1. The team ended the game on a 3 run walk-off double by Matt Mianulli. Mianulli finished the day 2 for 3, with 1 walk and 4 RBI's. Gavin Korn was the highlight of the day pitching a gem on the mound. Korn went the complete game, allowing 1 earned run, on only 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 7. Korn added 1 hit, 1 run scored, and 1 stolen base as well. Christian Eliane went 2 for 3, with 2 RBI's and 1 stolen base. Max Fagin also finished 2 for 3, with 1 run and 2 stolen bases. Alex Ahn, Liam Bell, and Nick Tsialas each added 1 hit on the day. The team is now 1-2 on the season and looks to continue the winning streak. The game today vs. Finley has been rescheduled for a later date due to the severe weather projected for later.

HBT Loses to Clarke 10-5

HBT jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning and scored runs in 4 innings totalling 10 hits, but came up short losing 10-5 vs. Clarke. Luke Chekmayan had a strong start on the mound, throwing 4 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, while striking out 5. Alex Ahn came into relief and did not have his best stuff, giving up the lead allowing 4 earned runs in the inning. At the plate Max Fagin led the way going 2 for 2 with 1 walk and 1 stolen base. Gavin Korn also added 2 hits, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 1 stolen base. Christian Eliane, Alex Ahn, and Andrew Zammit each added an RBI hit. HBT looks to win their 1st game this Friday at home taking on Herricks, at 4:45pm.

HBT Falls short in comeback vs. Garden City

It was opening day for the HBT Braves taking on Garden City at home on Thursday afternoon. Gavin Korn started on the hill going 4 innings, allowing 4 earned runs, 4 hits, 4 walks, while striking out 2. After allowing 4 runs in the 1st inning, Korn cameback with 2 perfect innings, before giving up 2 unearened runs in the 4th. Alex Ahn came into relief pitching 2 innings, giving up 1 earned run, 4 hits, 1 walk, while striking out 3. Garden City had a 9-0 lead in the game, but HBT fought hard and did not give up. HBT really did not have much going all game besides in the 5th inning when the team exploded for all 6 of their runs. Andrew Zammit led the team going 2 for 3 with 1 RBI, 1 run scored and 1 stolen base. Ryan Steinberg, Matt Mianulli, Jacob Fogel, and Alex Ahn each added 1 hit. HBT will look for their 1st win next week, as they travel to Clarke on Tuesday for a 4:45pm game. Go Braves!

HBT Finishes Undefeated on the season

The 8th grade HBT Baseball team finished the season undefeated, going 5-0! It was a great season all around for the team. In those 5 games, the offense scored a total of 56 runs, and impressively 56 hits as well; With an average of 11.2 runs and hits per game. The overall team batting average was .386, On-base % of .483, Slugging % .517 and an OPS of 1.000; Such an incredible job by the team offense! The team defense finished with a fielding % of .921. The pitching staff finished with an amazing team ERA of 1.00, and a WHIP of 1.32. The staff totaled 51 strikeouts in 28 innings, which is almost 2 K's per inning! This team had a great group of players, and I am very proud of you all. Great season everyone! Go Braves!

HBT Wins 12-0 vs. Oyster Bay

It was a great last game of the season for HBT, winning 12-0 in 5 innings vs. Oyster Bay. The team scored 7 runs in the opening inning to break the game open early. The team went on to score 12 runs, on 7 hits and 7 walks. Rehaan Subzwari started on the hill and pitched a great game, picking up the win. Subzwari threw 4 shut-out innings, only allowing 1 hit and 4 walks, while striking out 7 batters. Jesse Fine came in to throw the final inning, walking 3 batters and striking out 1. Jacob Danziger had a huge game at the plate, going 3 for 3, with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI's. Fine, Subzwari, Nico Mantekas, and Jack Monaco each added 1 hit. It was a great last game of the season, finishing undefeated with a 5-0 record. Great job team! Go Braves!


HBT Wins Syosset Showdown 5-4 vs. SW

It was the battle for Syosset, with HBT traveling across town to take on rival South Woods. It was a great game, with HBT coming out on top 5-4! Jacob Danziger started on the hill and picked up the victory, dealing 4-1/3 innings, allowing 1 earned run, 4 hits, 3 walks, while striking out 7. Tom Martelli came in for relief to pick up the 8 out save, striking out 8 batters and only allowing 1 hit. HBT got things going in the 1st inning scoring 2 runs, on an RBI groundout by Danziger, and a RBI single by Jack Monaco. In the 3rd inning, Martelli orchestrated a run himself, stealing 2B, getting to 3B on a WP, then scoring by stealing home. Mason Axel had a clutch day at the plate, hitting an RBI double in the 2nd inning, and another in the 4th inning, which turned out to be the winning hit for the team. The team improves to 4-0 on the season, heading into their last game of the season on Thursday, at home vs. Oyster Bay, at 4:30pm. Go Braves!


HBT Completes Comeback Victory vs. Finley

After coming out on fire the first 2 games of the season, HBT struggled from start. Jesse Fine started on the hill again for the team, but had to fight in his 2+ innings, allowing 3 earned runs, on 6 walks, 1 hit, while striking out 3. Zach Silver came into relief in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a runner on 3B with no outs, and was able to get out of the jam. Silver picked up the win, throwing 4 innings, allowing 0 runs, 0 hits, 5 walks, and struck out 8. The team scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, then none again until the 6th, where they scored 4 runs to take the lead. The offense struggled for most of the game, but did finish with a total of 7 runs on 9 hits. Zach Kaufman, Jack Monaco, and Jesse Fine each had 2 hits in the game. Peter Adragna hit a triple, Zach Silver and Kyle Swerdloff each added an RBI single. The team improves to 3-0 on the season. Next game is Thursday 6/3, at home vs. Carle Place at 4:30pm. Go Braves!


HBT Beats North Shore

HBT picked up right where they left off, beating North Shore 12-1 in 5 innings. The offense scored 12 runs, on a total of 13 hits. Jacob Danziger led the offense going 4 for 4, with 4 RBI's, 1 run scored and 2 SB. Tom Martelli went 2 for 4, with 3 RBI's, and 4 runs scored. Peter Adragna added 1 hit, 2 RBI's and 1 SB. Jesse Fine went 2 for 2, with 2 walks, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 1 SB. Fine also started on the hill picking up the win, dealing 4 innings, giving up 0 earned runs, walking only 2, while striking out 10. Martelli came in to pitch the final inning, allowing 1 hit, 1 walk, adding 3 K's. It was a great second game for the team, improving to 2-0 on the season. Heading into the Memorial Day break, when we return in June, we have our final 4 games in a 2 week span. On Tuesday when we return, we are vs. Finley at Glen Cove HS at 4:30pm. Go Braves!


HBT Crushes in Season Opener vs. Manhasset

It was a great start to the season for the HBT 8th grade baseball team. The team played an amazing opening game and came out with the win vs. Manhasset after 5 innings. The offense exploded for 20 runs on 22 hits, and got things going in the first inning scoring 4 runs. The offense went on to score runs in every inning. 10 total players added at least 1 hit in the game and also scored at least 1 run.  Jesse Fine started on the hill, dealing 4 shutout, 2-hit innings with 4 K's and 1 BB. Fine at the plate went 2 for 4, with 4 runs scored, 1 RBI, and 2 SB's. Zach Silver closed out the game dealing the final inning. Silver at the plate went 2 for 4, with 1 BB, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI's. Tom Martelli had a huge day at the plate going a perfect 5 for 5, with 5 runs scored, 2 RBI's and 1 SB. Jacob Danziger also had a monster game, finishing 4 for 5, with 2 runs scored, 6 RBI's and 1 SB. It was a great game all around for the team, and looks to stay hot vs. North Shore on Tuesday at home, at 4:30pm. Go Braves!


Season Opener on Thursday vs. Manhasset!

The Braves season opener is this Thursday, May 20th, at Shelter Rock Elementary School vs. Manhasset, at 4:30PM. The team is super excited to get out on the field and begin the season, after working hard the past few weeks. The spectator policy for the game is 2 GUESTS PER PLAYER. I will need to collect a gatelist of names for who will be attending. I will ask for this information on our team SportsYou account. HBT Looking Forward to The Opener

The 8th Grade team is going into their 3rd practice of the season, and has been working extremely hard from the start. With a shortened season of only 6 games, the team knows that every play in the field, and every at bat matters, so everything done in practice has been game like. With the off day Thursday, and back to practice Friday; we have a total of 6 more practices before our 1st game. Which is next Thursday, May 20th at Shelter Rock Elementary school vs. Manhasset, at 4:30pm. Go Braves!

After a year with no baseball, HBT Baseball is Back! Try-outs begin this week for the teams, and looking forward to beginning the season with this group of 8th graders.

HBT Battles in 6-4 Win vs. Clarke

It was a great last game of the season, an intense game from the start. Robert Crehan started on the hill picking up the win, throwing 3 innings, allowing 0 earned runs, 2 hits, 3 walks, while striking out 2. Jason Ting came into relief pitching the final 4 innings, giving up 0 earned runs, 4 hits, 2 walks, and 1 K. Although the defense allowed 4 unearned runs, Crehan and Ting battled in big situations. Offensively for HBT, Jack Shaw had a huge game going 3 for 4, with 1 run scored, 2 RBI's, and 2 stolen bases. Brett Kitograd came up in the top of the 3rd inning in a tie ballgame, coming through with the clutch 2-out, 2-run single which scored Crehan and Tyler Steinberg. Kitograd also came through in the field, making a game-saving catch in LF in the bottom of the 7th inning, which would have tied the game. Alex Rubin and Tyler Steinberg each added 2 hits. Kevin Hargrave reached base safely 3 times. This was the last game of the season. 

HBT finished the season on a 10 game winning streak, ending up with an overall record of 11-1. It was a fun season, and everyone played an important role in this great season. Nice job boys, very proud of you! 


HBT Cruises to 12-3 Win over North Shore

HBT continued their winning streak on Monday vs. North Shore, winning 12-3. Jason Ting started on the hill, picking up the win, throwing 4 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 K. Brett Kitograd came into relief pitching the final 3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, on 3 hits, 3 walks, with 4 K's. Danny Garibaldi led the way at the plate going 2 for 4, with 1 sac fly, 2 runs scored, 4 RBI's, and 3 stolen bases. Tyler Steinberg went 2 for 5, with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, and 4 stolen bases. Nick Padula and Brett Kitograd each added 2 hits. HBT's last game is tomorrow, at Clarke, at 4:45pm.


HBT Continues to Roll with 12-4 win over Finley

It was another great game for HBT baseball on a beautiful Friday afternoon, beating Finley 12-4. Robert Crehan picked up the win and was dominant on the hill, throwing 4-2/3 innings, allowing 0 earned runs, on 5 hits, 3 walks, while striking out 5. Danny Garibaldi came into relief and threw a perfect 1-1/3 innings with 2 K's, to end the ballgame. The offense exploded for 7 runs on 6 hits in the 1st inning alone, and finished the game putting up 12 runs on 13 hits, as well as stealing 16 bases. At the plate, Crehan led the team, going 3 for 3, with 1 sac fly, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI's, and 4 stolen bases. Alex Rubin finished 3 for 4, with 1 run scored, 3 RBI's, and 3 stolen bases. Nick Padula went 2 for 4, with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, and 2 stolen bases. Tyler Steinberg reached base safely 3 times, scoring 1 run, with 2 stolen bases. HBT is now on a 8-game winning streak heading into their final week of the season. Our next game is Monday, at North Shore, at 4:30pm. 


HBT Dominates Manhasset in 15-0 Win

HBT carried their strong offense over from yesterday, coming out smoking hot, totaling 15 runs, on 12 hits, after 2 innings. The game ended in the 2nd inning due to lightning spotting. The bats were on fire from the start, scoring 5 runs in the 1st inning, and 10 runs in the 2nd inning. Every player in the lineup crossed home plate at least once. Robert Crehan picked up the win, pitching 2 perfect innings, with 3 K's. Alex Rubin again led the way offensively, going 2 for 2, with 1 walk, 3 runs scored, 3 RBI's, and 2 stolen bases. Tyler Steinberg went 3 for 3, with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, and 2 stolen bases. Danny Garibaldi finished 2 for 2, with a sac fly, 1 run scored, 4 RBI's, and 1 stolen base. Nick Padula added 2 RBI's. The team now advances to 8-1 on the season, with 3 games remaining. Next game is Friday vs. Finley, at 4:15pm, which is our final home game of the season. 

 


Another Win vs. Wheatley 10-3

Coming off the 5 day Memorial Day Weekend Break, HBT came out strong, beating Wheatley for a second time. Jason Ting started on the hill, picking up the win, throwing 4 strong innings, allowing 1 earned run, 2 hits, 3 walks, and 5 K's. At the plate, Alex Rubin led the way, having a huge day going 3 for 4, with 2 runs scored, 4 RBI's, and 2 stolen bases. Robert Crehan finished 2 for 4, with 2 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases. Tyler Steinberg walked 3 times, scoring 1 run, 1 RBI, with 4 stolen bases. Nick Padula added 2 RBI's. HBT now improves to 7-1 on the season. Next game is tomorrow, at 4:30pm at Manhasset. 


Another Comeback Victory for HBT - 6-4 win vs. Weber

HBT completed yet another come from behind victory today against Weber. For a second straight game, HBT gave their opponent their first loss of the season. Jason Ting started on the hill, who was perfect through 3 innings. Ting threw 4 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 earned runs, with 0 walks, and 1 K. Jack Shaw picked up the win, pitching the remaining 3 innings, allowing 1 earned run, 1 hit, 6 walks, and 1 K. Offensively, HBT struggled for the first 4 innings, but finally got on the board in the 5th inning, putting up 4 runs, then 2 more in the 6th. Brett Kitograd led the way at the plate, going 2 for 3, with 1 run scored, and 1 RBI. Tyler Steinberg finished the day 1 for 2, with 1 walk, and 2 runs scored. Brandon Levy, Kevin Hargrave, Luke Naughton, and Jack Shaw each had an RBI in the 4-run 5th inning. HBT has a little break until their next game on Tuesday after Memorial Day, which is a rematch vs Wheatley, away at 4:30pm. 


Game of The Year - HBT Walks it off vs. Mineola 6-5

What an exciting game for HBT baseball, completing another successful comeback victory, except this time winning in walk-off fashion. Heading into the bottom of the 7th inning, HBT trailed 5-3. Robert Crehan hit a single to get things started, then stole 2B. Jack Shaw then walked. Crehan and Shaw executed a perfect double steal, which led to Alex Rubin's clutch game-tying 2-run double. Then stepped up Danny Garibaldi, who was first pitch swinging and raked a walk-off double scoring Rubin, as the team swarmed Garibaldi around 2B. Crehan started on the hill, pitching 4 strong innings, only allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, 2 earned runs, while striking out 7. Shaw came into relief, picking up the win and pitching the final 3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, giving up 3 hits, while striking out 3. Crehan also led the way offensively, going 2 for 3 with 1 walk, scoring 2 runs, 1 RBI, and stealing 5 bases. Rubin finished 2 for 4, scoring 2 runs, with 3 RBI's and 1 SB. HBT improves to 5-1 on the season and will play at Weber on Tuesday at 4:15pm. 


HBT Wins 7-6 in the Syosset Showdown

It was an exciting rivalry game vs. cross town rival South Woods. HBT came from behind on separate occasions to finish the comeback victory 7-6. Jason Ting started on the hill pitching 3 innings, allowing 5 earned runs, on 3 hits and 7 walks and striking out 2. Jack Shaw was the winning pitcher,  throwing 2 innings, allowing 0 runs, giving up 1 hit, 2 walks, and striking out 3. Robert Crehan was a crucial part of this victory, leading the way offensively for HBT, going 3 for 3, with 3 runs scored and 4 stolen bases. Alex Rubin finished 2 for 3, with 3 RBI's, and 2 stolen bases. Rubin hit the game tying 2-out, RBI single, then stole 2B to get in scoring position. Danny Garibaldi then stepped up to the plate, driving in Rubin to put HBT up 7-6. Garibaldi finished the game 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 3 stolen bases. It was a great team win, and we look to stay hot vs Mineola on Friday, at home! 


Ting Shuts Down Wheatley in 4-1 Victory

Jason Ting was dominant on the mound, pitching 6 innings, giving up 0 earned runs, only allowing 3 hits, and 2 walks. Ting carried a no-hitter into the 5th inning, and was getting ahead early and often on Wheatley hitters. HBT never really got the offense going, only totaling 4 hits in the game. Robert Crehan hit an RBI single in the 4th inning, scoring Brett Kitograd. Jack Shaw went 1 for 2, with a sac fly, a double, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI. Luke Naughton also had 1 RBI. HBT is now 3-1 on the season, and will be seeing Wheatley again on Monday, away at 4:30pm. 


12-5 comeback victory vs Herricks

It was another slow start for HBT, not getting on the board until the 4th inning. But once the bats got going, runs were scored in 3 straight innings, finishing with a total of 12, after exploding for 7 in the 6th inning. In that 6th inning, the team tallied 6 hits, 3 walks, and 1 sac fly.  Robert Crehan started on the hill, pitching 4 solid innings, giving up 2 earned runs, 5 hits, 3 walks, and striking out 4. Brett Kidograd picked up the win, pitching the final 2 innings, giving up 0 hits, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 walks, and striking out 3. Danny Garibaldi and Luke Naughton each had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Jack Shaw, Tyler Steinberg, and Kevin Hargrave each added 2 RBI's. Alex Rubin reached base safely in all 4 at-bats. HBT looks to stay hot at home on Thursday, vs. Wheatley at 4:30pm. 


HBT Loses to Garden City 6-3

HBT bats started out slow, not getting on the board until the 5th inning, but they couldn't take the lead after making a 5th inning 3-run comeback to tie the game at 3. Garden City ended up winning the game 6-3, for Syosset's first loss of the season. Jack Shaw started on the hill, pitching 4 innings, giving up 3 runs, on 3 hits, adding 5 K's and 5 BB's. Offensively, HBT totaled 5 hits, with 5 walks, but struck out 7 times. The team all game was looking for the big hit, which finally came in the 5th from Jack Shaw on a game tying 2 out, 2 run double to left. But could not come up with another clutch hit after that. HBT looks to get back on track on Tuesday at home vs. Herricks, at 4:15pm. 


Opening Day 11-2 Victory vs. Clarke

HBT came out on opening day strong from the start, beating Clarke 11-2. HBT used 5 pitchers, allowing 5 total hits, striking out 6 batters, and only allowing 2 runs. At the plate, Tyler Steinberg led the way with 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Robert Crehan, Jack Shaw, Alex Rubin, Dan Garibaldi, Brett Kilograd, Kevin Hargrave, and Brandon Levy each added 1 hit. Nice job Braves! Next game is this Wednesday, at 4:30pm at Garden City Middle School.
