Meet Our Coaches

At Turn 2 our #1 priority is player development. How do we develop players? With our incredible coaching staff!

Linda McGinnis:

Is the current Varsity Head Coach at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School in Essex, MD, where they won the IAAM "C" Conference Championship in 2017, and finished 3rd in 2018.

Linda grew up in Pasadena, MD where she began playing softball at the age of 4. By age 10, she was playing for one of the top teams in the country and continued playing competitive travel ball until she was 18. Linda completed her softball career with many offers to play at the next level, but illness held her back until 2010 when she played for AACC at 26 years old. During her hiatus from playing Linda began coaching, finding a passion in helping players reach their fullest potential and helping them prepare to play at the next level. Linda has coached every age group from 6u to 18u, at the recreational, travel and high school levels. In addition to being a coach, she is also a private hitting and catching instructor whose students have found success at every level.

Renee Ferguson:

Renee spent 3 years as the Head Coach at Anne Arundel Community College (JUCO D3), 2 Years as the Pitching Coach at Morgan State University (NCAA D1), and spent a year as a Student Assistant at Tusculum College (NAIA D2).

Coach Renee grew up in Glen Burnie, MD. She played competitive travel ball until she graduated from North County High School. She was fortunate enough to go to college on a full scholarship to NAIA D2 Tusculum College. At Tusculum, she held many pitching records, some of which still stand until this day. After completing her playing career at Tusculum, she became a Student Assistant Coach.

Renee began coaching several years later at the recreational level, then the travel level, and eventually was hired for the Pitching Coach position at Morgan State. In addition to her background as a college coach, Renee is also an accomplished pitching and fielding instructor.

Together Coach Renee and Coach Linda own Turn 2 Sports, Inc. The goal of Turn 2 Sports is to bring fundamental softball back to Maryland and the surrounding communities. Turn 2 Sports hosts clinics, group lessons, private lessons, and team instruction, with the intention of making softball competitive again in the local community.
